    Micro-Drive laser driver by rkcstr

I was fortunate to get the afternoon off today, so I finished packaging and shipping all orders made up through yesterday. So, unless you ordered today, your items are on the way! Also, instructions for the new driver can be downloaded here: http://rkcstr.googlepages.com/MD_v3_inst_rev1.pdf

Large portion of orders shipped today. Those who did should have received a Paypal notice in their email... I haven't had time to update order status on my website, so you may not get that until tonight or sometime later. Anyway, I still have about a third of my orders to ship, which I'm...

They're in! :) I'm going to start shipping tomorrow, hopefully. Have to be at orientation at 8:30am then start my clinical rotation at the hospital afterward until who knows when... so, hoping to get as many orders as possible packaged up tonight and then run over to the post office during my...

Others have done just that and said it worked fine. If you're concerned, just put a diode in series with the battery positive to drop ~0.7V.

Good news! They're done! I should have them by the 6th or 7th and start shipping on the 7th or 8th.

    fireworks collection for the 4th

Bottle rockets? I have mortars, who needs bottle rockets? I also have some missles that are pretty nice and are great for modding. I do have some old bottle rockets from past years somewhere around here, though.

    fireworks collection for the 4th

Fireworks I bought: Couple firecrackers I made (smaller=~3g, bigger=~20g): Patch of grass where one of the smaller ones landed:

Few posts above, assembler told me they expect to have them done between the 6th and 15th. Then, however long it takes to ship (probably 2-5 days) and probably a day or two for me to get them packaged up and shipped out to everyone. Anyway, you'll get an email notice from Paypal when they are...

Setting the current on a Driver

If anyone has questions about my stuff, feel free to PM me... I'm happy to answer questions. Anyway, I've gone through a few changes over the the time I've sold my drivers... used to solder on the wires, but stopped after I got the manufactured PCBs. Now, they comes with pre-stripped/cut wire...

No. I don't offer a current setting service; you have to do it yourself. As I said, it is a skill you should learn if you're building your own lasers.

Update: The assembler told me they expect to have the drivers completed between the 6th and 15th... a little longer than I expected them to take, but at least I have a better idea of when they should be done.

I waiting to hear back from the assembler on when they'll be finished. I'm going to send them an email tomorrow to ask how they're coming along. Then, after they're finished, it will probably take a few days for me to get them, then probably the day or few days after I get them I'll start...

Billy Mays has Died at 50.

They mentioned he had a rough landing yesterday afternoon (the plane's front tires blew during landing) and hit his head. That night his wife said he "didn't feel well".... that could mean he felt nauseous and had a headache, which can be a sign of increased intracranial pressure, such as due...

    Valentine 1 Radar Detector

The radar detection is useful as they just spray it down the line and it is easy to detect. However, it's the laser which is almost unavoidable like others said. It's because it is a focused beam (well, more focused than radar) and they actually target a person with it and shoot rather than...

I don't sell a 100mA driver, specifically. I used to sell specific current drivers, but now I only sell the fixed current drivers as a kit, which you assemble yourself. If you want an assembled driver, I have my adjustable form for purchase, which is about $11.70 plus shipping ($2.50 to US, $3...

    Micro-Drive laser driver by rkcstr

That should be fine. If they're rechargeables, they should have adequate current supplying capacity. You can go by typical findings others have found at a specific current (there are I-V plots for most diodes around here somewhere), but the blu-ray diodes can also vary. Typically, you can...

If the overhead voltage drops below the 2.25V like I said, it will not regulate the current any longer. That means the current will start to drop off as the voltage does. So, it will appear to still work, but your current (and output power) will probably be lower. You may not even notice it...

    Nestle cookie dough

Well, typically they can just chalk it up to saying "undercooked egg products" are considered inadequate for consumption and saying the consumer is responsible for properly cooking the products.... HOWEVER, that risk is most commonly associated with Salmonella contamination, which is common to...

    Micro-Drive laser driver by rkcstr

You need around 2.25V more than the diode's voltage. It all depends on how much voltage the diode draws at the current you're running. That can be anywhere from about 4.5 to 6V or more for a Blu-ray diode. A PHR diode can be upwards of 6V if you're running a "high" current and 8.4V is enough...
