Anyone know a UK supplier for goggles?

Jon at odicforce.com is located in the UK and he carries the eagle pair EP-1 goggles in his shop. Here is the link. I have no experience with those goggles, but I like his shop. Jon is a very nice guy and has an excellent customer service.

    WTB: Green Driver

I have seen cheap green laser pointers which run their IR diodes anywhere from 250-350mA. The use linear drivers and you might be able to adjust the pot so you can use it at the right current for your application. So I guess it could be done, but it would be interesting to know what your 635s...

Ah, I get it! This makes sense. Thanks a lot for the explanation.

Just picked up a little whitelight

Wow... I am impressed! How does a white light laser work? Is there a good link where I can read up on this?

Question about an lm317 based driver - K3563 Regulator

The K3563 is a MOSFET, not a complete regulator. A MOSFET together with an OpAmp and some other parts can be used as a very simple voltage regulator or current regulator, depending on the wiring. A LM317 has some other features like over load protection and consists of more parts than just a...

    BMW to develop Laser Headlights

Thanks. I did not know that CREE had also some sort of remote phosphor. Does anybody know what the emitter size of our 445 diodes is? The article at the beginning of the post is stating that the emitters BMW will use are 10um. Could that mean that they are using single mode emitters?

    FS: Bunch of more stuff.

Hey Moh, is your blue wire sold out??? I tried to buy, but PP said you are sold out.

Sounds good! These should sell very well.:pop:

You might want to pay special attention to table 4 in your data sheet. If you screw up the on-board heatsinking then you have to add an external heat sink to achieve a 445 diode running at 1.2 Amps. And on a side note, take off some of the pics or anybody can find your secret IC in less then a...

    BMW to develop Laser Headlights

Has anybody played with remote phosphor yet? A company called Intematix has a few patents for this technology. And I was wondering if we could use a beam expander on a 405 or 445 diode, shine the beam through a phosphor disc and collimate it again? Or will the emission from the phosphor be so...

    BMW to develop Laser Headlights

Believe it or not, cutting down the electrical power requirement of your car is one important step towards better efficiency. Let me give you an example: LED daytime running lights on your car instead of your low-beams save you ~0.2 L/100 km which translates into ~4 g/km CO2. That is huge! Most...

    BMW to develop Laser Headlights

Well, 100 Watts of electricity for your lights translates to a few grams of CO2/km. And the automotive industry has to meet pretty harsh CO2 limits in the future, so every single gram counts. And yes, "white" laser light apparently has been done before, read here.

    BMW to develop Laser Headlights

Maybe I got a little over excited when I first spotted the articles. The i8 is going to be a very low volume car, so I seriously doubt that they will be developing new diodes/emitters just for those few cars. They say it their press text, that they will use multiple emitters in one headlight to...

    BMW to develop Laser Headlights

Even more exciting. I just found an article stating that the will be using BLUE laser diodes and a phosphorous material to convert it to white, similar to white LEDs. So I guess we will be having some very high powered blue laser diodes in the near future! Here is the article in German: BMW...

Check this out: BMW Developing Laser Headlights to Replace LED In Future - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum - E90Post.com I am wondering what kind of laser diodes they plan on using?

    Circuit simulator

Try the LT1085. It is 100% pin compatible to the LM317 and has a lower drop out voltage. If you like it compare the data sheets. But, I would not use the LM317 anyway. There are far better ICs out there...

    Circuit simulator

Not true. There is a bunch of regulators available in LTSpice. I have recently used the LT3083 for a lab power supply and it worked nicely. There are even buck and boost drivers that come with LTSpice.

    Circuit simulator

This applet is indeed quite nice. If you want to get a better understanding of, lets say linear drivers then try to create an op-amp current source with it. It is a nice exercise and the results are quite ok for such a simple applet. If you want something more elaborate, then take a look at...

    Power meter in europe ?

This German shop has the LaserBee I in stock: Insaneware Deluxe I have no experience with them. Just remembered that I have seen it there.
