From the picture it looks fine. Did you break the tiny wires going into the diode? (the diode is the little rod in the open can) BTW: It supposed to be open if thats what you mean as broke. ;)

Ive seen Ike on the radar, it's about as big as Texas. :-/ Hope it don't tear everything up.

Is that all it has, is two resistors? And whats the band colors? Also, it should show how much mA output is on it. (maybe on the packaging) BTW: I like it! :D

Yep, Just small cd like mirrors on a rod at an angle that spins. Is this how the laser scanner things work to make those weird designs?

Most say just to buy the parts and make your own laser. But what if I want a green? As far as I know there impossible to make with home appliances. Red lasers are cool. But mainly for burning. Not visibility... So I'm completely stuck on what I CAN do right now... I know I'm really getting to...

I understand that laser light is different than sun light or light bulbs. But why does laser light have a sand like texture if not focused in a small area? It almost looks like the "sand" pieces are floating about 20 mm off the surface. Sorry if this is a nub question. ::)

Oh well.. I was at radioshack so I when ahead and got one lol. Now I have both. So I should use the LM317T for red diodes, and the 7805CT for blue ray?

I see all the DIY tuts on red lasers are using the LM317 chip. Would the 7805 work too?

I think they still do. I'm just afraid of ordering an illegal laser from ANY company because I don't want it to get stuck in customs or me get in trouble. :'(

Thats true, but they go over board with it, and that to me, pushes me away from buying there products. And I'm sure others feel the same. I've been to a whole lot of forums and also moderate some, never have I seen mods like them. But yeah, your right, they can do what ever thay want.

I'm advertising it in a bad way.  :( Saying not to go, and I posted no links. But sorry though.
