a lot of new green lasers on DX.

Does not look like the 80mw rechargeable laser torch has an IR filter so its most likely 30mw of 532 and 50mw of IR.

    awsome forum!

Hey Tony - welcome - and another aussie - Sydney here and new myself. - hope you have fun with your nova X105. I am saving for a 300mw portable. I hate waiting - will have the money by around february. If I can hang on, and keep saving I might just jump from a portable to something even bigger -...

    P A R E N T S !

I have done this as well playing with my frankenstien labby and it sat warming up pointed at my thick winter curtains while I set up the video camera and balloons etc. Was a funny moment - housemate said "woah the curtains are on fire" when it was just a little stream of smoke much like that...

Has anyone had experience with this 300mw portable

As the topic says, I am in the market for a pretty powerful green (you may have seen my previous post regarding a 300mw labby) but I decided a 1/3 watt portable would be heaps more fun. http://store.oemlasersystems.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=5_23&products_id=125 The guy who...

    Do you wear goggles?

Wear mine whenever the laser is being used to burn up close. For just admiring the beam I'll forgo the goggles unless there is a chance of a reflection. Burining stuff tho the dot is insanely bright, I only tried that once with a match, and could see the reflections through closed eyelids. Didnt...

    Playing with my laser

Its a 100mw labby which I turned the pot up a little. I took current readings and gave it 5% more juice, so I guess that would make it like I mentioned in another post around 110-120 milliwatts. I will throw together some more videos later when I can get set up properly of it nuking black trash...

    Playing with my laser

I throw on the saftey goggles and burn various items with the laser. The CD case burns but you cant see any smoke due to the laser spot blooming, and the match goes up pretty quickly. All from around 2-3 feet from the laser. The match wasnt sharpied or anything, just a funky very short red head...

300mw Labbie - what to expect

Thanks frothychimp - you have a PM. After looking at all my options, and having a few friends around we all agreed that a big portable like a hulk, RPL etc would be more fun - so I'm gonna try and get myself a portable. Techlasers are a no go right? Stick with opto, oem and DL Cheers Ben

    Almost finished Labby

Wow that is one fine piece of art - cannot wait to see it going. Looks like some piece of equipment from star trek, and I guess it will burn like those star trek guns :)

300mw Labbie - what to expect

Hi folks - aint been in for a while - given the lasers a break since having cataract surgery on my left eye, and taking good care of it (freak cataract - I'm 32!), thus no exposure to bright lights, sunnies when outdoors etc. My eye doc has given me the go ahead to resume normal living (i.e...

    Laser X/Y scanner in development

Just ordered some sample digipots from maxim. Non volatile so if you dont want laser brightness control, but want to adjust it occasionally, these will keep their value indefinatly until adjusted. Means one less value to store in eeprom, plus one less routine for those who dont want power...

    Laser X/Y scanner in development

pseudonomen137: With regards to "hooking the pot backwards" the pot controlling the laser power is a digipot - its a pot on a chip that can be controlled by digital signals instead of the analogue hand moving the wiper. They may be a little confusing for some members to wire up - getting the end...

    Laser X/Y scanner in development

Deadal - thanks for the support - I want to get this project off the ground soon - will be ordering the uC soon as the mob who makes it gives me some answers and the bank balance says ok. I still need to test my DACs, get a shitty pc for programming (I use macs) and need to work out how to make...

    Laser X/Y scanner in development

Senkat thanks for moving this - I was not thinking No I will not be offering a kit but the code and schematics will be free and easy to build on prototype board. Most expensive part will be the $70 UC with built in LCD. You will: *be able to put on a cool beamshow with the device *be able to...

    Laser X/Y scanner in development

This is my fourth post, and will be for those who want to get their hand dirty with electronics and build their own laser scanners. I'll give the 1.2.3 on it, but it'll involve a soldering iron, a decent (100mw+) laser, and lots of tinkering. The gizmo will include: Full schematic available to...

How many lasers do you have?

Well at the moment I am in the market for a 100mw + pointer as I killed mine just now playing with it. Now all I own is my 350 mw lab laser (my first post stated 650mw, it was a keypad typo and will be fixed) and a 150mw green laser in a black box shown below. oops cant post pics yet - need...

    Moving House

I got barred from the LC forums for some unknown reason. At one stage I was working with a forum regular on a laser XY scanner, then got inundated in work and could not proceed. I finally found some time, pulled the circuits boards out of the cupboard, wondered where I had left it and logged...
