    635nm vs 642nm & sources for diodes

Looking for other sources, and also a source for 622nm diodes... I've found some companies that are offering diodes in the range I'm interested in, but I have no idea which are trustworthy/has a good product. Can anyone help?

Thank you bill! Some really interesting diodes there!

    635nm vs 642nm & sources for diodes

635nm vs 642nm (and 622nm) & sources for diodes Hi all, I'm looking for different shades of red to the normal 650nm. I've just bought a New style waterproof 200mW red laser from O-like which is 650+/-5nm. Would a 642nm next to the O-like be a noticeably different shade? If anyone has any...

Can anyone reccomend a true less than 5mW green?

Thanks. I actually went for this one from DX, even though it was a bit more, since people were saying that it's easy to take apart and mod: DealExtreme: $20.20 Genuine New Wish 5mW Green Laser Pen (One CR2 Battery) If it doesn't work out I may go for the LEDShoppe greenie.

Can anyone reccomend a true less than 5mW green?

Are you saying that the DX lasers may be a little more difficult to mod than others? Any idea if the ledshoppe 5mw might be better in this respect? Thanks again.

Can anyone reccomend a true less than 5mW green?

Thanks potatorage. I didn't know you could also "down-mod" cheapies. Very interesting!

Can anyone reccomend a true less than 5mW green?

I'm looking for a cheap green that's not over-spec in it's 523nm power output, and that's reasonable quality overall. Preferably for less than $15. Can anyone recommend me one?

what do you think of this?

I would stay away from it. "True power" could mean anything. It probably means 200 mW "maximum output power". Maximum output might only be reached for a split second, and then the power drops to well below that. "Average continuous power output" is usually stated along with the max. power by...

    Building a 150-200 mW?

I probably should have waited. Serves me right for being impatient! Anyway, I think what I bought should have more umph than the DIY route/O-like modules, so I'm not that cut up about it. What are the chances that I'd get an O-like module capable of 250mW+, with IR filter? Obviously there's no...

    Laser mythology.....

I was just thinking along the same lines... but I think the main reason that wars of the future will not be dominated by laser canons, is that it probably wont take long to develop reflective armor... mirrors anyone?

    Laser mythology.....

I have to admit that I was guilty of thinking this too. To a certain degree, I think it's right though, since you cant see lasers in a vacuum, can you?

How exactly does eye damage from lasers look like?

You mean "the right way up" don't you? You do know that the eye produces an upside down image on the retina to begin with? Obviously our brain flips it the right way round, so what we see is the right way up.

Even the 200 mW greens? I thought they were new!

    Building a 150-200 mW?

The 200 mW from Sky Lasers. I'm happy. I don't think I'd be able to build one with the same specs, even though it would be cheaper. As far as I can see, no one has even tested the o-like modules.

    Building a 150-200 mW?

I got the reply I wanted. Divergence at minimum is <1.2 mrad, and beam is <2mm, which is not the best, but I think it'll be fine. Laser ordered :D

    Building a 150-200 mW?

Longer? What would I be looking at? Thanks. Going to check out the thread/s now. I just sent a message over to Sky Lasers, so will see what they have to say.

    Building a 150-200 mW?

Appreciate the thoughts guys. I think I will be buying rather than building. I was tempted by the Opto, but it has a duty cycle (I know people say this isn't an issue, but they are probably shortening the lifespan of the diode) and the operational temperature range is not that good. I'm...

    Building a 150-200 mW?

Thanks for the reply and advice ZRTMWA. I'm also starting to thing it may be better to bite! I agree the sky laser products seem a bit over priced, but after a bit of digging I'm thinking for the amount they are over-spec, might justify the extra... for instance, someone posted a review of...

    Building a 150-200 mW?

Hi all, I'm new to lasers above 5mW and building lasers, but I'd like to get my hands on a more powerful 532nm laser. I've been reading around the forums for a few days now, and was thinking of buying a laser at first, but I can't find the specs I want for the price I want. I'd like a stable...
