    My new DIY red laser

Did you use the LM317 as a voltage regulator or a current regulator? The sporadic current readings can be caused if you used the LM317 as a voltage regulator as the LD's resistance changes according to its temperature (thus causing different voltage readings and weird current readings if you...

PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please sub

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please Yeah it almost hardens like silicone, not hard but it still bonds two objects well.

PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please sub

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please Hi LPF, I found THIS thermal adhesive, conducts heat excellently and works great in high heat. I use this on the bit of my soldering iron to put in perspective how much heat this adhesive can handle. It cost...

    Details on Odicforce driver?

I am going to put it in a Guidesman host, if no heatsinking is required there is lots of space for the driver.

    Details on Odicforce driver?

Hi LPF, Is there someone out there who has some details on this (HERE) Odicforce driver? Does it require heatsinking? Also, does anyone have experience with them? Thank you!

    Why ebay Safety Glasses are..bad

Yes, I was busy mounting the laser when it hit me in the eye, I'm very glad that I wore them! EDIT: 405th post!

    Small RGB LED Cube

It looks great! At my local electronics store we have a single color one on display and even that one looks awesome in action. I'd love a RGB version of my username

    Why ebay Safety Glasses are..bad

^^^I also have those glasses, it works rather well. I once got zapped with a 300mW 650nm while wearing those, and they protected my eyes, no damage at all :)

    looking for aggressive look

That would be one AWESOME looking build! With one of Flaminpyro's HYDRA focus adapters you can't go wrong!

    Wet Phone

I once forgot my phone in a bag with a water bottle:o It was completely underwater when I took it out, I immediately pulled out the battery and I just let it sit in a lot of rice for one or two days (rice absorbs the water very good). Amazingly, everything was fine afterwards! Just remember if...

They say to never boost a red diode...

I would like to add that you can also use the Blitz Linear ADJ from Cajunlasers, their very cheap and you can run a red diode with one Li-Ion! HERE is the link. EDIT: 400th post!!! :bday:

Laser brain riddle for all experts

Hi! I'm also a South African :) You will be easily able to do that with a green 5mW laser and a diffraction grating, they are very easy to find on fleeBay, altough you should prepare yourself for the LONG shipping times to South Africa!

    LPF History 101

Happy birthday LPF! It's great to see where we started and how much we have grown, thanks madmacmo for all your trouble! I learned everything I know about lasers here on LPF, thank you guys! Long live LPF! :bday:

    Question about PC PSU

Ok, thanks for explaining :thanks: I'm still learning about electronics as I'm sure you noticed (Although I know the voltage across the ADJ and OUT pins are only 1.25V, previous post was just an example) :) So is there any other way to measure the current like I described above without all that...

    List of ballpark output ranges?

In the description they say it is <2mW  I think you should believe the description :)

    Question about PC PSU

Sorry for my ignorance, but I noticed this: Let's say you have a 1E at 5V and, running at 5A, the resistor will be dissipating 25W. Running two 0.5E resistors in series, will mean that each resistor will only be dissipating 12.5W. Here that works correctly. But if you use a pot of 10E and a...

    Question about PC PSU

Oohh, sorry, I misunderstood you. But isn't what you said (About the wattages of the resistor adding up) only true for when you connect resistors in parallel? Like when you put 2 X 2E 10W resistors in parallel, to give a 20W 1E resistor (because each resistor will be able to dissipate 10W on its...

    Question about PC PSU

Also, the pots are usually not a high enough wattage. When using a circuit with something like a LM317 the current flows through the resistor across the ADJ and OUT pin if I'm not mistaken, so doing 3A at 5V with that pot is not going to last long.
