FS: Custom machined laser hosts and parts.

Ok great, the more precise measurements the better :) If you draw on any CAD programs I can accept a number of cad file formats, DXF is good if you can export to that, though a dimensioned sketch works too.

FS: Custom machined laser hosts and parts.

Nice edit to save face. I hate trolls, and I hate trolls who edit their posts before they get quoted even worse. Playing the 'i just want to learn' card is so typical. Thought provoking questions? Oh please, you come into my thread and try to make it sound like there are all these unresolved...

FS: Custom machined laser hosts and parts.

Heres another one, set up to house 2 CR123 batts. Front and rear are removable.

FS: Custom machined laser hosts and parts.

I could write a book about all the details and ways you can design a host, and all the possible variations in switches and components and layouts, I dont think I should have to do that though, its not exactly rocket science and Im not in the business of education. You design something, I build...

FS: Custom machined laser hosts and parts.

Machined from one piece or using tubing for the midsection, and how many? Just a few fins on the front and the rest smooth?

FS: Custom machined laser hosts and parts.

These are just two I machined up for myself, can have them set up however you want.

Pic showing the fins, keychain is a square cut, the full size has a round profile at the base of the fins.

Side view of the full size, length is 6.05" long. Diameter 1"

FS: Custom machined laser hosts and parts.

Ok Im starting a new thread since I have gotten plenty of offers for trading some hosts for diodes and drivers in my other thread, for now I will be trading for cash :D I can machine up pretty much anything you might need, from hosts, to heat sinks, to mounting brackets etc etc etc. I can do...

    "Ivan" the Tsar Bomb :O

Considering they take the cores out of the bombs at that facility an accident could possibly result in a supercritical reaction. Or if some wack job decided to attack the place, even a conventional explosion would blow enough material into the air to make a very large area uninhabitable...

    "Ivan" the Tsar Bomb :O

The US and Russia combined have detonated atomic and hydrogen bombs into the thousands, granted they were over many years, and some below ground, but there is a decent percent of the 'background radiation' that is from nuke tests. With the collapse of the USSR many old nukes had the cores...

    Laser self defense?

As someone wise once said, the number one swordsman in the world need not fear the worlds number two swordsman, its some idiot who's never used one before that will do something totally stupid and unexpected that you have to worry about. Like I said, how many people carry guns with them? Not...

could a speaker damage a laser?

Sound is a pressure wave, when its at low enough frequencies and high enough dB's the energy of the moving air is very easily converted into motion of other objects. The sound might not damage the laser directly, but if the sound causes the desk to vibrate, and the laser vibrates across the...

    lasing water

Check out Cerenkov radiation.... ever wonder why pictures of nuclear reactors always have pits of glowing blue water?

    Laser Radiation Bioeffects

Re:  Laser Radiation Bioeffects 1mW to 100W would be a gain of 100,000 not 105. Sunlight at earths surface on a sunny day would be about 100 mW per square cm, according to this it would be somehow focused to 100,000 watts per square cm. This would mean looking at the sun for a fraction of a...

    Rubies and high powered lasers....

I have a number of large 16mm diameter rubies from when my ex was on a homemade jewelry making kick, have 9 of them left. One was cut really poorly so I played around with it underneath the 20" x36" fresnel lens on a bright summer day. The shape of the cut tends to act like a lens, making a...

could a speaker damage a laser?

Low frequency high decibel sound can crumble masonry, loosen screws, and vibrations carried by load bearing beams can gradually loosen nails some range away from the sound source. You might want to worry more about what its doing to the house than the laser. With intense sound in the 40 htz...

Custom Machining / Welding  - Trading 4 Laser

Correct, that way I can pop it in one of my hosts and run it.

    Laser self defense?

I'd like to see a blind person try to choke someone.... Honestly if you get caught and strangled by a blind person, you kind of deserve it in my opinion. You could easily go around with a high powered laser keychain, though in most cases unless you have a permit to carry a concealed weapon you...

    High powered laser gun sight?

What do you guys think of a 200-300 mW laser gun sight? Dont think it would be a problem, since a high powered laser is like a gun in that you shouldnt point it at things you dont intend to kill... or permanantly blind.... Dont know if there are any specific laws about this or if it would be...
