    mW output testing?

I believe Carter (pseudonomen137) said that he would check the output of anyone's laser for free, if you pay shipping both ways. IIRC he also said for $20 you can get an output graph. :)

Blu-Ray diode w/o deck $40 shipped differnt thread

Re: Blu-Ray diode w/o deck $40 shipped differnt th Very nice find! I would probably go in on one in a group buy. :)

    DDL Regulated PSU

Nice job, Daedal! I will be ordering one of these drivers and a DX digital multitmeter in a few days, that's for sure. If I input 12 volts from a PC power supply and fiddle with the voltage pot, could I get the correct voltage to run the group buy diodes? Anyway, this is a damn good deal for...

    *Possible* Cheap Pre-built LD Driver!

Very nice, Daedal! I think I might have to buy one to power my group buy diodes instead of building the circuit myself (I suck at soldering, LOL). Do you have any pics of an assembled unit?

    ** IT'S OFFICIAL **  Laser Power Meter GB --

Re: ** IT'S OFFICIAL **  Laser Power Meter GB Thanks for the info, Daedal! That sucks that you are going to have to buy 3 meters with your own money though. Hopefully you can find them nice homes. :) As far as the data logging goes, I was just curious. If I get a meter I don't think I'll be...

    ** IT'S OFFICIAL **  Laser Power Meter GB --

Re: ** IT'S OFFICIAL **  Laser Power Meter GB -- Hey Daedal, How many units have been accounted for? I may be interested in one, but I won't know if I will have the funds until around the 10th or so. So don't put me on the list just yet, I was just wondering if you had 8 or 9 confirmed and...

    AixiZ module details

That's pretty unfortunate. I know you went through some hell getting AixiZ to deliver them. I'm happy with mine, thanks again! :) Oh, if anyone cares, Mike's suggestion of using a 1/2 inch drill bit to make the input window wider works like a charm. You have to be very careful though, because...

    AixiZ module details

Mike, Thanks for the tip, man. I'll try that later tonight and see how it turns out. Hopefully I can save that lens assembly again. :)

    AixiZ module details

Really? I love my glass lensed modules I got from you. I haven't got a chance to do any divergence tests, but I imagine that it is a good bit better. The acrylic lensed modules I have have terrible divergence. :( Do you have any tips for widening the input window on the acrylic lens assembly? I...

Group buy for 16X dvd burner diodes !

LOL! Well, you introduced me to that circuit, so that's why I call it Daedal's circuit. Just makes sense to me! ;) A match from across the hall? Not too shabby. Do you know approximately what amperage you were driving it at? Oh well, I guess I'll have to build a circuit and find out for myself...

Group buy for 16X dvd burner diodes !

I just got mine as well - Thanks a ton Greg! Now I have to go out and buy some parts for Daedal's circuit. :)

Thanks Greg! Hopefully I'll have 'em by the end of the week. :)

    DIY Homemade laser diode driver

I reread Daedal's post, and it sounds like the capacitor is used to regulate the voltage. If the laser diode becomes disconnected from the capacitor, for even half a second, the capacitor will take on a nearly 6 volt charge. In your case, it would be nearly 7.2 volts. If you connected that too...

    DIY Homemade laser diode driver

Hey Gazoo, Nice find. That kit has a good bit of stuff included. But that kinda sucks that it only has 1 board when you could make several circuits from that kit. The surface mount kit is cool too, but I don't think I could solder such tiny components together just yet. Though that is very...

    DIY Homemade laser diode driver

Hey Gazoo, Thanks! I will definitely have to take a good look at that page every now and then. :P Good thing I just bookmarked it, thanks again for the link!

    DIY Homemade laser diode driver

Eeek, okay. I forgot that the pot was controling the voltage. Thanks for clearing things up. :) I think I'll just stop providing any electronics advice, and just ask questions before someone makes a mistake!  :P ;D

    DIY Homemade laser diode driver

Actually, the RadioShack link is for a pack of 500 resistors, of varying resistance. One of the few things I know about electronics is that the wattage rating of a resistor is the amount of heat it can handle. So it doesn't really matter if you use say, a 1/2 watt resistor when a guide or kit...

Group buy for 16X dvd burner diodes !

I have 3 (out of 5) Rohm diodes left over from the dr_lava group buy on CPF, and I bought 5 of the Sony diodes in this group buy. So I have 8 total, but I really only want to push 1 extra hard. I think I'll build Daedal's circuit to go up to 600mA, maybe 650mA, depending on how sensitive the pot is.

Group buy for 16X dvd burner diodes !

Yeah, that could very well be the case. It makes sense though that these could very easily do 250mW CW under enough cooling, considering that's what they are speced at pulsed in the data sheet. If I could get that much out of one of 'em, I'll be pretty happy. I don't really expect to match your...

Group buy for 16X dvd burner diodes !

Hey vathink, Thanks for the info! I love your work with pushing these little diodes to their limits. I will be using Daedal's driver and modify the resistor(s) to drive it no more than 600mA. Thanks man!
