I am retiring from group buys !

Re: UPDATE !!!  Possibly returning from my early Great news, Greg! I couldn't have heard about this at a more perfect time - I just blew my 5th and final Rohm diode. Luckily I haven't even touched my Sony group buy diodes. Good luck with the negotiations!

I am retiring from group buys !

Damn, man. I can't believe someone would have the nerve to call you at that time of night over a group buy - something you aren't making much (if any) money off of!!! I must say, I am pretty glad that I got in on your first Sony diode GB, and that 200mW Sentorch is looking awfully appealing. :)

    ** BluRay Diode GB **

Yeah, I must say that a very short amount of time to receive something from China. Thanks again for arranging this, Daedal. ;) Gazoo - I feel the same way. Now I'll have to go out and pick up another anti-static strap or two. I'm still undecided if I should pick up a mat or not. :-/

    Interest guage - 200mw 660nm red pointers...

Argh... it's tough holding back. :P

Does green sting more than red?

You are very correct. The beam on the Atek/Glowtorch/SenTorch is very large, so that's one reason you don't feel it as well as the green. The energy is spread out over a much larger area compared to the X-85. And yes, human flesh transmits a good bit of red light, instead of absorbing it. Try...

    ** BluRay Diode GB **

Hey Daedal, Payment sent for 3 Blu-Ray assemblies. Thanks man!

    7W blue .......

Cyparagon - I was reffering to a 457nm DPSS unit from CNI. And yes, 457nm is an argon line but it has a very low gain compared to 488nm.

    7W blue .......

Let's just say say that the 2W model from another vendor costs $11.06 per mW. That's $22,113 US.

    PHASER diodes! HELL YAA!!

Wow!!! It doesn't seem that they are multimode! If they actually put out what they've been said too, that would be amazing! At the moment it seems they do. I can't wait to get ahold of at least one of these. :)

    ** BluRay Diode GB **

Thanks for the tips, Mike. Most of my clothes are 100% cotton, so that might be why I've had good luck in the past. I think I'll get the anti-static mat kit from RS in addition to the cotton clothing, homemade anti-static strap, etc. With these diodes I rather not take any chances. :P

    ** BluRay Diode GB **

Really? I've messed with 3 red diodes before, and out of the three I didn't fry any from static. Two of those times I didn't even use a wrist strap or a mat. However, I think I'll be picking up a mat and wrist strap from somewhere, I just really want to know if the RadioShack kit is any good or...

    ** BluRay Diode GB **

Hey Guys, I'm wondering what are the best static precautions to take with these? I live in a pretty humid area of the US, but I will probably be getting only 2 decks and I don't want to zap them. Can anybody reccomend an anti-static mat or kit (mat and wrist strap)? Daedal - expect my payment...

    NICE!!

Yes, with all of the group buys going on recently it is nice to see them get their own forum. :)

    Anyone with a Leadlight GLP-105?

I'd go with a 105 from AtlasNova. Just go to their homepage and click the first green laser pointer link. AtlasNova models seem to be manufactured by Leadlight, but use a more powerful pump diode and a larger crystal assembly.

I guess I better get in on this now. I'm definitely interested in one.

DragonLasers & the Defamation of DragonLasers

Very well spoken, pseudo. I must say, you have been very, very honest and knowledgable about lasers in the past, and I for one can't believe you would try to bash anyone without evidence against them. Now you have strong evidence that suggests Dragon Lasers does scam people, and I'm betting that...

Ahh, okay. Thanks for setting it straight, Gazoo. ;)

    Red DIY DVD laser burner.

The diode will probably burn out in a Mini Dorcy if you don't add an extra resistor, but it does have a regulator circuit so it shouldn't burn out quite as quickly as in a MiniMag.

Deadals Regulated PSU (Advertised on YouTube)

Thanks for the heads up. I'll try it on one of my remaining Rohm diodes since Gazoo said he's been told that the Rohms aren't very good for overdriving. If it doesn't blow with the connector that will be excellent. I would say that the pins are fairly tight in the holes. They will come out with...

Deadals Regulated PSU (Advertised on YouTube)

Hey Daedal, I've been planning on using a small battery connector like this with the diodes. I have 5 of those and the holes on the connector are spaced perfectly for the pins on these 5.6mm laser diode cans. I'm assuming I won't be able to use these, correct? Could I just solder a capacitor...
