All drivers should be tested before attaching to a diode. See here: 3A Selectable Test Load You would need to use a regulated power supply instead of batteries.

Yes that will work, but you will need to bond the SXD to the heat sink driver pill as shown in the tutorial. And yes you will need the blank battery contact board to bring the power from the batteries to the SXD.

For short range burning the 6W is better. If you use the 3 watt I recommend 2.2A for longer life, with 2.4A max.

Good job on the build, I love that diode which is my current personal favorite! Very nice beam shots with the element of perspective with the buildings and thanks for comparing the different lenses. BTW I'm glad you used the back half of the module which is preferred if your build has the room...

DTR offers an option of a full or half-length copper back which is handy depending on how much room you have in your build for the stack of components:

DTR's new half-length back half modules allow them to fit more easily into different designs. But what you show in your photo will fit if you use a drilled-through pill.

Rich, it appears that he may have been sent a battery contact board and pill module by mistake instead of a 1.8A driver and pill module. Apparently the customer didn't know the difference, but you will be receiving a package from us that will help fix him up. ;)
