    New(ish) 405 5.6 diode.. 350mW to 1500mW-share your build.

Here's a pic of the M462 next to the 2.85A 7675 EDIT- I looked at my regulator set resistors and I had the 7675 running at 2.9 amps, YIKES

    New(ish) 405 5.6 diode.. 350mW to 1500mW-share your build.

M462 and 7675 have nearly if not identical beam divergence. Power is roughly the same when M462 is driven at 1.8A and 7675 is driven with at least 1.8A as well, up to it's limit. Above 1.8A 7675 rapidly changes color but output stays about 2W. Above 1.9A M462 dies. At 1.8A M462 is very...

The diode has large window lenses

I have an N465 that's had a bit of use that appears to be holding up ok (@ https://laserpointerforums.com/threads/n465-lab-cyl-lens-correction-switchable-output-temp-display.102096/ ). When it's run at high power it's fine, but I have needed to increase the output at the low power setting...

    New 520nm 500mw Build

Nice! Is that using the factory g-ball lens? If so, how is the divergence?

New High Power Red VSHIO HL63283HD LD

I'm interested in this diode.. what ratio of C lenses were used in testing (3X, 6X, etc.)? If 3X was used I am curious as to how a 6X cylinder pair would work out. This is something to consider if running this diode above 1.3A, if Ushio's datasheet (@...

    502nm Diode in BadBoyBilly Host

Nice save on that diode and host. For something permanent that's pressed like that you may want to invest in some heatshrink, a little more immobile than electrical tape and doesn't leave a sticky mess if you ever do need to take it apart again.. not a criticism, just something to think about...

    Help improving beam collimation/side artifacts

To get rid of that splash on the M462 use a G7 lens... you'll also see a considerable gain in output using a G7 over a 3 element. Get it with the 7mm holder if you don't use a focus ring (as in a labby style application or pointer you don't plan to frequently change focus) or get it with the...

My new violet laser V2! so suprise, so strong!

The output could always be run through a set of cylindrical lenses to circularize the beam and improve the power density.. if the price drops enough in the future I could see it being worth it if the total price for the diode and lenses could be reached for around $200. Worth it for me...

    Sharp 490nm GH04850B2G 55mW Laser Diode

What lens is recommended for this diode? From what I've gathered, with the 495nm diodes the acrylic or 2 element lenses seemed to be the best at avoiding the square artifact that occurred when using other glass lenses with that diode, do the 490's have that same artifact? Just wondering since...

    About Gball diode

My N465 has had that issue since the very first time it was turned on. It has never been run above 3.45A. I chocked it up to that diode likely having an aftermarket can installed and figured it was damage from welding on the can, though I guess it's encouraging if anything that it looks like...

    About Gball diode

I thought about getting that 2.6W diode but the 2.6A absolute maximum had me a little concerned. At 2A it is rated to output 2.6W, practically the same as what the NUBM07E outputs at 2A.. however the 07E has an absolute maximum current figure of 3.5A so in theory it should be capable of higher...

    About Gball diode

You can refocus the output from a gball diode with a set of bi-convex or plano-convex lenses by adjusting the distance between the lenses like |DIODE|----()<----->()---> the <------> is the distance that you adjust until you get a tight beam. It's basically the same setup you would do...

    Red Gball coming soon

From what's been reported, the Sharp GH0637AA2G (700mw @ 638nm) seems to have a far better divergence (at least in most reports) than the Mitsu P73 or the Oclaro and appears to have less beam trash to boot. See 1st picture and description at...

A shot of my 07E takin' down the full moon...

Weird, I could not see the picture on any browser... but after logging in to ask "am I the only one that can't see the picture" it immediately displayed. Never had that sort of behavior on LSP before!

Indigo Imperator - A 6500 mW 450nm Optical Corrected Monster With Thorlabs 3x BE

Just Gorgeous, awesome work as always.. those OPT cylinders are great, no? One question, I saw the pic of what you called the 'probe' mounted atop the diode module, which I assumed was a thermocouple for a temp readout, but I see no temp display and I can't figure out what the probe is for.. so...

    "n 450"

-----> https://laserpointerforums.com/f45/n...m-98314-2.html <----- Check out DTR's post about halfway down the page. From what I gather, I'm almost certain that the N450 is a NUBM06 and the N465 is a NUBM07E that have had an aftermarket "can" welded in place. Hopefully this was done with...

    NEW DIODES 4.5w "N450"(nm) and 1w "N520"(nm) +...

Yup, I haven't been able to find any datasheets for these either, nor anyone else selling these diodes.. the N465 having the exact same characteristics as the NUBM07E would lend to RedCowboy's theory, though I'm not sure if the N450 has a GBall'd equal.. if there is none, it's possible that...

    NEW DIODES 4.5w "N450"(nm) and 1w "N520"(nm) +...

Just to clarify, do you mean that when focused to infinity through the 3xBE you get 5/8 X 1/8 @20ft and when focused to a point at 50ft it's ~1mm X 1.25in? Or are those measurements at 50ft at infinity? I'm trying to figure out if you mean that it's exhibiting "negative divergence" I suppose...

    NEW DIODES 4.5w "N450"(nm) and 1w "N520"(nm) +...

I just wanted to mention that regardless of the factory GBall focus, the "can" can be left on and brought to perfect focus with a simple addition of a 1:1 positive lens set, as if you were going to add a spatial filter.. like (diode)=====> (| ---distance--- |) =========>...

N465 Lab - Cyl Lens Correction, Switchable Output, Temp Display

I had heard good things about the OPT lenses and as I mentioned, the profile of the lenses makes them much easier to manage than most of the cyl pairs I have seen. With the recommendations I read for them I was willing to wait to get them. I did post a picture of the beam and spot after...
