This is a beautiful laser. This yellow feels like the holy grail of wavelengths lol. It’s very lemony. Depending on context sometimes I see a slight green tinge to it, but I have to convince myself it’s green whereas with my 561 or 589 I have to convince myself it’s yellow. The star caps are...

I’ve heard that Russian has two separate colors for what we consider light blue and dark blue. I wonder if there’s a Russian LPF somewhere where they argue about the color of 460nm

I caved

Digital cameras have a certain color space between green, red, and blue. Violet 405 is a spectral color outside that range, best approximated by a purple with more blue than red. Until you build a camera that can really see color and not approximate it, it’s gonna be a problem. Similar problem...

I’d definitely be interested in a lower powered indigo laser in the 20-100mw range if at all possible. Nichia has a single mode 420nm 120mw but not sure about availability and price. But these all sound really nice

Using them outside is really fun, but I much prefer it in a remote location like a lake or empty field than my densely populated neighborhood. Just never know if it could attract the wrong kind of attention, and there are way too many planes flying by

FWIW, those Sharp 488's are known to a) vary in wavelength and b) shift up a few nm near their drive limit, if you don't need to hit exactly 495. I also found a few 495 options for more like $200 with a quick google search for "495nm laser diode". Hope this helps
