    Black out

Yeah - Vantablack is a forest of tiny carbon nanotubes :) No paint's gonna replicate that. Like the spiky walls of an anechoic chamber, but scaled down so they trap light instead of sound waves... Shame that it's not accessible or affordable

Suitable driver and enclosure for an M140?

Your battery configuration is a choice you should make based on the size of host you want - If you use a single cell, you will need to use a boost driver (will be current regulated, but the operating voltage of an m140 is above 3.7V, so you need to boost this). If you use two cells, you should...

    Hello LPF!

Can we depoliticise here? Keep it to the off-topic subforum perhaps - totally derailed the poor guys's welcome thread... Anyhow, Welcome to the forum - Stay safe and I hope you enjoy your time here; I note you said you're not going above 800mW for safety reasons - 800mW is still easily enough...

Suitable driver and enclosure for an M140?

Hi - All the drivers that DTR sells, the Astral Drivers etc. are all current-regulated drivers. You need a current regulated driver else your laser diode will not survive. Drivers designed for handheld lasers (i.e. all of the above) are all CW, a pulsed laser will be very unsatisfactory as a...

Any option to upgrade my cheap green laser <200mw 532nm? I can’t even scratch up a black plastic

80 & 100mW are not going to burn anything if they're focused to infinity. You need to focus those powers down to a fine point to get a couple of wisps of smoke from a black material.

SALE on the Survival Laser SL-GXPB 1.1W 520nm Laser

I can't bite on this but damn is it tempting :) Good luck for the sale - it's a great price.

GUIDE: Which company should I buy from?

Trust me when I say that that kind of language and casual ignorant racism pissed me off too. Unfortunately that has no relevance to your suggestion about the inclusion to the list. The site you listed offers nothing special, or new to the table. For not a lot more money you can get a Sanwu or...

    Convoy S2+ 405nm & 450nm Builds

Adding another to this set, it's the same as the 405nm one except in a blue convoy host. Diode is a PLT5 450B singlemode blue diode. Driven from the same Odicforce 17mm driver as the 405nm one. Unfortunately, I cannot really recommend the Odicforce drivers - They don't seem to regulate all...

I wanna make a host out of Damascus steel for a 450nm 7w

You're unlikely to get anyone quoting you for a job unless you have some kind of drawing of how you want it to be - think dimensions, size of materials, etc. A damascus host is also going to be expensive as you end up wasting the hollowed out metal in the centre - and the starting material is...

I wanna make a host out of Damascus steel for a 450nm 7w

I totally agree with what Paul said - with one additional thing - from what I hear, pattern-welded steel is not generally that fun to machine as it's got inconsistent hardness going from one layer to another. And I don't know what all of those material boundaries would do to thermal conductivity...

    WTB, custom machined module

True - I'd almost want a single piece module/host for that to best get the heat into the outside of it...

    WTB, custom machined module

I've got a build similar to this on the back-burner but with a couple of differences - I'm using a low powered diode as most 9mm diodes will not be able to be run from a 10440/10280 cell for long... but I am using a standard 12mm copper module from DTR "turned" down to fit the host. I've not got...

Is there a way to stop a DPSS 532nm laser (0.9watt) from flickering as in the attached short clip?

Might have posted this on the wrong thread Hak? Could be a bad laser? Have you contacted the company you purchased it from for advice and a possible replacement if that ends up being the outcome?

Is there a way to stop a DPSS 532nm laser (0.9watt) from flickering as in the attached short clip?

Flickering aside - this is a silly way to power the laser... 12VDC -> 110/230VAC -> 8VDC is madness - get/build a DC-DC converter or linear regulator to drop the DC voltage from 12V to 8V - this'll be way more efficient and far simpler overall. If you're running it from a car battery - does...

    Lpc826 not bright help

Glad you're starting to get more sense from your circuit. Using the 3.9R resistor you've got there, you should expect to see around 320mA of output current. It's kind of hard to see in the picture what the tolerance on your load resistor is - as if it's not exactly 1 ohm you may get a slightly...

Decent quality safety goggle for 445nm (blue) lasers from Europe?

Yep I saw the "There are new posts on this thread do you want to display them" pop up as I was typing :) Thought I'd send my reply anyway - even though we basically reccomended the same goggles and way to check the existing ones...

Decent quality safety goggle for 445nm (blue) lasers from Europe?

Honestly, the cheap ones are a bare minimum as you've found out - Unfortunately, there's a "fire triangle" of Good, Cheap and Fast and unfortunately it's difficult to recommend making too many compromises here. If you have a limited budget - I'd give your best set of goggles to your kid and wear...

Comment by 'Immo1282' in media 'fullsizeoutput_94a.jpeg'

So the teal 14500 is sold, but you have a 14500 (or similar small size) one in brass? Is it the "1x10440" one that shows up as "fullsizeoutput_a47.jpeg" in your signature? If the picture of it isn't up yet, can you PM it to me? Thanks :) How does a custom focus adapter ring work with an...
