Looking for an adjustable laser that can heat up toenails

Now this one rubbed me up the wrong way. Forget the discourteous behaviour higher up, but this one in particular annoyed me. You're correct in saying we're not the police, but had you thought for a second longer you'd realise that the last thing we want is for laws (enforced by the actual...

Newcommer here doing something stupid with co2 lasers

So you're well aware that what you're doing is highly dangerous. Now read the guide Encap linked to - you can't combine beams with lenses at the focal point.

Anybody know about the Mitsubishi ML562G18?

It's the holiday surrounding Chinese New Year. Basically the whole country shuts down in some form or other - just something you have to get used to if you want to do business with companies in China and it's neighbours in the first few months of the year.

    burning

Gss - the cheap "4000mAh" ones will probably be 2Ah at best, but genuine Panasonic 3400mAh ones have been out for ages. A lot of progress in energy density spurred on by demand from EV manufacturers pushing battery producers to do better! Either way, you're definitely right that laser is far...

    burning

I'm guessing Paul666 meant to link to https://www.laserpointerpro.com/500mw-beam-green-laser-pointer-1-x-4000mah-black-p-1805.html from LaserPointerPro. Avoid LaserPointerPro - they've got a bad reputation here and consistently overrate lasers which they sell, overcharging for what they are...

    Hi friends

Welcome! I hope you enjoy your stay :)

    What is this?

Nobody makes anything like that, most likely because it would likely be disappointing and extremely expensive. It's not the most powerful handheld commercially avaliable - and the focusing arrangement is absolutely awful. A single powerful tight beam will be much more satisfying than this...

    Post your random pics!

That's beautiful - picture with the engineer working inside the machine reminds me of pictures of JET at Culham Centre for Fusion Energy, here in the UK. Was friends at University with a chap that was working in remote-handling robotics (haptics for remote manipulators) there - he always had...

    Driver laser diode

Transient spikes are bad, you're right there. You need to be careful with laser-diode drivers as they must be Current-regulated, so you set the current output of the driver, and it produces whatever voltage at the output which will cause that current to flow in the load. This unfortunately means...

    Suggestions for 1-1.5w 520nm or 532nm handheld

To get 1W of 520nm, you are going to want to build with a Nichia NDG7475 or similar. Check the "List of Diodes" thread. If you built a laser with a 7W blue diode in it in the past, you already know about the ridiculous amount of heat these high power LDs can chuck out, but do be careful as...

CLOSED: Osram PL 530 Modules: 808 nm to 530 nm OPSL Technology - Narrow .3 nm Linewidth (new, old stock)

You could probably use any spare low-powered laser diode driver you might have lying around Curtis - adjusted to 300-400mA. From Diachi's thread, just give the heater 1.5V - so a cheap DC-DC converter board ilke the one Anthony P posted would work for the heater.

    FS: Sold

Very tempted by that 503nm module... Pm sent :)

CLOSED: Osram PL 530 Modules: 808 nm to 530 nm OPSL Technology - Narrow .3 nm Linewidth (new, old stock)

If it's going to be anywhere between $7.50-$10 before shipping I'd take 2 as well :)

Safety with 50mW 532 nm laser pointer

As smallfreak said - "diffuse" or matte reflections of the dot aren't going to do any harm - it may be uncomfortable to look w/o goggles - but it's not going to hurt you unless you get a direct hit/specular (or mirror) reflection. So make sure there's no mirrors/glass/polished metal around where...

    Global locations for members

Reckon if any of us were peddlers of MLM crap that'd be pretty incompatible with a laser hobby... Can't have any money for lasers if we'd filled a garage with overpriced essential oils or random makeup 🤣 Nobody's going to be tracked down if they only wrote their country - and that's all that's...

    Global locations for members

I'd guess it's mostly members who've not read the sticky threads at all - In general I see new threads where it's the poster's first - screams to me that they've not scanned through the sticky threads about introductions...

    Unusual beam pattern

Sanwu may be a Chinese company, but they make really good quality lasers and there's fortunately not a lot to knock out of alignment in a 488nm :)

What kind of eye protection should I get for my red laser?

I'm not sure where you heard that about using multiple batteries in series - but it's almost entirely nonsense. A car battery is 6 smaller Pb-Acid batteries in series. The battery in the laptop I type this from has two sets of three Li-Ion batteries in series. If you get good batteries like...

    Help where to buy

Ah! Excellent details, thank you :) To operate for hours and hours, you will need a laser with active cooling (fan) or a low-powered one. The easiest way to acquire this is to find a "Lab" style laser. These are designed to be bolted down and run from external power (i.e. a mains power adapter)...

    Help where to buy

That host looks nicely put together Rich - but the pl520b might be a little overkill for OP's needs? My pl520b build is pretty painful to look at a spot on the wall (sure it's a bit overdriven), so for his needs, OP could absolutely get away with one of the cheaper green diodes, or a 532 module...
