Little review of Swim's "overspec greenie"

Re: super overspec greenie I hate to burst your bubble, but why do you think it's overspec? It actually doesn't take a lot of 532nm to be 'bright'. Just going by the pic, i'd say its running between 50-75mW, but that's just a guess assuming normal exposure times, etc. The only real way to...

    Green 507 512 532 beams' comparison

Interesting. Seems like the road to direct green is producing all kinds of interesting new wavelengths. I assume you have manufacturer connections that lets you get engineering samples?

Using factory 12x sleds for beam combining?

The SF-BW512 sleds don't combine the 405 with anything nor is there any knife edging done in the sled. The optical paths for the 405 is entirely separate from the 780/660 side. If you look, the two separate output lenses tell that story. And if you crack it open, you'll see that it has...

Review: 510nm Direct Green Diodes / Build Photos (DGH-N1, DGH-N2)

People need to quit fishing for the source of these. The secrecy involving the source in NO way revolves around money here, and the few people who know what the source is, are very well aware of the consequences of this information becoming public knowledge.. which would be that there wouldn't...

Review: 510nm Direct Green Diodes / Build Photos (DGH-N1, DGH-N2)

The diode? They're TO-38.. 3.8mm just like the single mode 450nm.

Qumefox's FOR SALE thread. Hosts, lenses, etc.

Just PM me how many you want of both and i'll carry our postage scale home tonight so I can weigh the stuff there when I actually have more than 45 seconds at a time to think about laser stuff. heh.

    Want New Laser

Because it's dangerous and irresponsible. What if one of your neighbors, or anyone else nearby happens to be looking out a window or walking by as your waving a laser around and they catch a beam in the eye? Illuminating aircraft, even accidentally, will also result in the same punishments as...

    Glow Crazy

It's not a 450nm. There's no reason they would use an expensive diode when a much cheaper 405nm would work better as well.

Sneak Peak / Tease - The "Zero DC" 635nm Build

With two, it'd have to do boost/buck. Fully charged, the batteries would be 8.4V. Looks like 'best case' with 2x 10280's would give me an area inside the host 13.2mm in diameter and 10mm deep to play with. Not a whole lot. A single 10440 would increase that to 26mm.. which would be more than...

Sneak Peak / Tease - The "Zero DC" 635nm Build

Yeah but nearly doubling voltage is a serious stretch when having to maintain a decent efficiency. Have to remember it'd be running off 1 10440, and I wouldn't be happy with sub 10 minute run times between charges. heh.

Sneak Peak / Tease - The "Zero DC" 635nm Build

What host is that if I may ask? It' looks like it's even smaller than an MXDL, which I didn't think was possible since you can't get much smaller and fit a 10mm cell in it heh. On a similar note I turned down a few of the SS trustfire EF23 1xAAA hosts a while back, and I think other than the...

If you've been looking for a GreeNe, read this.

Don't forget you need ballast resistors as close to the tube as possible. **ALL** HeNe's require these.

Review: 510nm Direct Green Diodes / Build Photos (DGH-N1, DGH-N2)

The 3 450nm single modes i've checked so far have all been 445-446nm on the spectrometer. I also haven't forgot about your springs, just been busy. They're in a baggie at home. You said 50 right? And here's the correct dimensions of TO-56, btw...

Review: 510nm Direct Green Diodes / Build Photos (DGH-N1, DGH-N2)

Speaking of the 450 single modes. AVNET finally replied with a quote for qty:10 osram PL450 80mW diodes... Heh. $313 each. I think i'll stick with the $60 50mW PLT4NSB's that are currently available. I also just realized that i've been mistaken about package designations too. the 5.6mm diodes...

Review: 510nm Direct Green Diodes / Build Photos (DGH-N1, DGH-N2)

I haven't because it boils down to time, which I haven't had much of in a while. Plus i'm in the middle of 9 laser builds at the moment that I need to finish ASAP, of which i've only managed to get 3 of done so far. And Steve.. Heh I only wish these were that cheap. But I can't really say much...

    UK Police using lasers

'Disproportionate' depends on viewpoint. You don't know what the law enforcement was told when they were called. For all anyone knows, they were told 'student riots' and came prepared accordingly. Though I can say the pepper spray was the 'lightest' force they had beyond just grabbing people...

Review: 510nm Direct Green Diodes / Build Photos (DGH-N1, DGH-N2)

All these display people showing up heh. I really should start on my projector since I have all the stuff, at least for a single color.

    UK Police using lasers

That's a misconception. Being a public school, doesn't make it public property. It's not a park. If you don't believe me, just go to your nearest public school and start wandering around the premises as you please. I can guarantee you'll be approached by someone fairly quickly and if you...

Review: 510nm Direct Green Diodes / Build Photos (DGH-N1, DGH-N2)

I think at this time, that is a fairly bad assumption. From what I know of these particular diodes, these are merely 'transition' diodes on the way to higher wavelengths. They aren't intended for production devices, and it won't surprise me any if they quit being available once the processes...

    homemade green laser

Actually pumps don't have to be (and usually aren't, in cheap greens) right on 808nm for the process to work. You just lose efficiency the farther from that the pump is. I've seen cheap 532's that have had the 808 line as high as 815nm before and they still worked. And as far as putting a...
