    LD died

Yes it does. Even if you direct drive a diode and short the battery, it will go LED. I founded out that a 100nF ceramic capacitor soldered close to the diode protect it from spikes and in an accidental short, it will save the diode.

    670-690nm 500mW To3 TEC cooled Diode

crank it to 5C and power it @ 800mW... I dare you :eg:

    Testing a High-Output Driver PCB

A 1ohm resistor + diodes will not work imo. to flow 12A in a 1ohm res, you need 12v, plus Vf of each diode, so it won't work, and maybe could damage your driver (dunno). Maybe with a 0.1ohm resistor and beefy diodes (1n540x, or heatsinked diodes). You will need some better advice there, don't...

    My First Beamshot Thread!

For thin hosts, I use this combined with this. It works pretty well for more lightweight lasers. Great pics btw! That makes me recall that I've never made a beamshot thread.... :( Time to call a friend...

CLOSED - Osram PL TB450B 1.6W (Substitute for the M140)

Re: Open: Osram PL TB450B 1.6W (Not M140) @RA_pierce Can you decan the diode and verify the bond wires and the die? This can be done without any special tools... In case you want any tips, I've done it before (link) and will give some advice if needed  (I decanned a 5.6mm too)

    670-690nm 500mW To3 TEC cooled Diode

Yeah I guess I'll have to experiment myself... Time to buy some sensors on ebay... ;) Thanks for the suggestion meatball and cyp, will remember that. And sorry ionlaser555 for the thread derail...

    670-690nm 500mW To3 TEC cooled Diode

Well, I don't think I'll have budget to hit the optical max, so I think I'll stick with a low temperature and not test the facets coating... ;) What temperature you could recommend me, for an exposed system? I was thinking about 5ºc just to be safe... Measured with a precision thermometer.

    670-690nm 500mW To3 TEC cooled Diode

I'm asking because I will build a laser CNC router... And I want to squeeze every mW from a 9mm 445. I want to run things cool for better efficiency so I'll use a TEC with a control system to achieve a very low temperatue (the lowest possible ;)). Thanks for the info... :thanks: +1 to you

    670-690nm 500mW To3 TEC cooled Diode

hey, great diode and beamshot... I have a question, if you set the TEC to around ~5ºC anything bad would happen? Condensation? I think it should drift the WL to a more visible one and make the diode more efficient, right?

    Remove coating from lens.

It have some information about safety regarding hydrofluoric acid. Maybe its on the composition of this "acid mix"?

    Full gas projector

Working. I have no clue on gas lasers but... As a whole that thing is a monster bro. Its amusing to see.

Re: Feeler: Osram PL TB450B 1.6W (Not M140) @The Lightning Stalker (1:50) Think about that little box full of diodes  Beautiful at least.... Man for fast testing I recommend O-like housings... Do you know those? The diode isn't "press fit" making it easier to insert, solder wires, test...

520nm diodes - new kid on the block - More powah

@Bloompyle A thermoelectric cooler should shift the WL on those, making them ~515nm... I intend to do this with a 638nm diode... Those 520ish diodes are too expensive for me heheh..

    Remove coating from lens.

Re: Remove the coating from a lens. Yeah if you're really up to a challenge, you can get red fuming nitric acid at home, you just need some sulfuric acid (boiling car battery acid, bought at automotive parts stores), some nitrate (NaNO3 is cheaper and easy to source, at least here) and...

    Remove coating from lens.

Re: Remove the coating from a lens. What is the coating made of? If its MgF2, its soluble in nitric acid. ;) I don't know if it will dissolve, though. Its just an idea...

My First 140/210 mA Hi / Lo Red Laser (16x DVD)

Welcome to the forums SyKo... Its a good way to introduce yourself, damn, its so good to see someone building DVD burner lasers! good and simple, as Kamildos said. ;) As for safety, always beware with your eyes! Lasers >5mW can damage your vision permanently... You even printed a warning...

    DVD Burner Laser Driver Help

This You can just remove the adjustable resistor, and use 1,25/Resistor value to determine Current out (to the laser diode). You know resistor associations, right? If you want 312mA (example), you will need 1,25/x = 312mA, and that will be 4ohms resistor... Just beware that the resistors...

520nm diodes - new kid on the block - More powah

The PLP diode divergence is 7x23. The PL520s have a pretty nice dot (as I heard) and are 7x22...

lol @ 1W green. Really, even a 5mW yellow diode would be utterly amazing.
