1.1 Watts of 445nm is about the same brightness to me as a 250-300mW Green at night. During the day, it looks the same as a 150mW green.

To ignite paper, there are several things to be aware of. 1. the type of paper makes a big difference. Try different kinds. I used the ads that came with the sunday newspaper. 2. Focus the dot to a point. At 1.1 Watts, that's basically all you need to get it to ignite.

Nice looking build. Mine looks almost identical except without the prisms. It's also set to the same current and has about the same output. Good luck in getting better optics to reduce the transmission loss.

If this helps, the output of my 445nm build is 1100mw. I just had it tested today. I didn't really use a test load to adjust the current since I just maxed out the pentiometer on the microboost. I think the current is somewhere around 1 amp. I'll post some pictures and videos when I get the...

For candles, it really helps if you use one that has already been lit before. I think the proper term would be "re-lighting" the candle with the laser. I have yet to light one that hasn't been pre-lit.
