A Gas Laser Primer For the Noob

Argon Ions - oh how I have learnt so much about those. Lets see now. First of all if your going to get an argon ion laser, you'll usually come across two different types - single line and multiline. Single line argons emit one wavelength, and multiline several. You can test if your laser is...

    Techhood 400mW RGB Unit.

Yeah but then your starting to defeat the purpose of buying the module - a 520 green costs $130 odd, a PL450 is only a $40 upgrade ;)

    Techhood 400mW RGB Unit.

Wonder how hard it would be to drop in one of the singlemode blues from DTR's shop?

    Techhood 400mW RGB Unit.

They now have the 400mw version with a single mode 120mw diode - this should be great for scanner heads who want small spot beams to fit on tiny scanner mirrors - like my DT40Ws. I'm very tempted to get one so I can get my PJ up and running. :)...

ROUND II: Daguin inventory reduction sale!

Just a free bump daguin and thanks for pending the 105mw ion for me :)

An Arduino controlled JDSU ion laser

I hadn't thought of controlling the controller via uart or usb, however, this would be pretty tricky as we are already using serial (hardware) to talk to our LCD. Bluetooth on the other hand... if you want to add that to the unit. I haven't yet investigated. edit AHHH meatball - I get what...

An Arduino controlled JDSU ion laser

Ok well I just whipped up a schematic for the basic controller. Kim is bringing over her spare scanner during the week so I can scan it - its VERY basic and uses an 0-20V meter for the readout, two LEDS, 4 switches and two pots. You can use a DMM in leiu of the panel meter, and it basically...

    Uniphase 2114P-40MLA & 2214-40MLA Argon Ion Laser

Thats a shame - I just found an LED panel meter in my parts box that draws 80ish ma with 3 segments lit - its a 0-20V unit, so I can eliminate the bottom 100k trimpot, and just feed the light and current signals (via a DPDT switch of course, the other side of which will select one of two leds to...

An Arduino controlled JDSU ion laser

hehe well in your thread yours seemed to be ass backwards and all over the place in regards to the connections - mabye its been internally modified, and a quick kiss with the soldering iron can put it back to normal?

An Arduino controlled JDSU ion laser

Schematic will come as soon as I get the laser and start experimenting. I've just been lazy and not bothered to draw anything. From what I have written I can remind myself what I wanted to accomplish with the arduino, and therefore very quickly have a schematic up on the first post as soon as I...

An Arduino controlled JDSU ion laser

I'm hoping mine will be a "normal one". Have not done any further work on the design yet until the laser arrives. First I'll build a basic remote (with simple voltmeter etc) and get to the more elaborate model once I can verify that its a "normal" psu and not a schizophrenic one like the one you...

    Uniphase 2114P-40MLA & 2214-40MLA Argon Ion Laser

So these supplies have an idle set current inside the actual supply? So when emission is enabled, it wont go any lower than the set idle current; if so this kinda simplifies the design I have for a remote controller for it. Shame theres only 10-20ma on the +15V rail - that will NOT power an...

An Arduino controlled JDSU ion laser

This is just a place holder at the moment. I am organising with Daguin to buy a JDSU ion laser (of the type with the 25 pin remote control). Once I have the laser and have written the code and created the circuit, I'll post the rest up here on how to build a fancy pants controller for your JDSU...

    Remember to exercise those argons!

Let me know what you have in 220V there Dave, of course multiline and we'll try and organise to reduce your laser count by one :) Your last update to your sale thread is 4/13/13, and lists a 105mw cylindar laser, a 145mw laser (which I am not sure is 220V), and an 80mw cylindar. these are all...

DTR's Laser Shop - Laser Diodes & More

The whole project has changed - I'm now going for 1w of whitelight - I've just ordered 1 of the 638 single mode 120mw diodes to play with - this projector is going to be fully solid state. I'll "overclock" the diode to 200mw (that seems to be a sane overclock for them), and pair two of them...

    Oclaro/USHIO 120mW Single Mode 638 Diodes (HL63603TG)

Sounds like a good quality beam then - I'll be using the acrylic as DTR has said it gives the best beam profile. I'll then focus it like you did so it'll fit on my DT40W's :) Thus I should make my testing scanner (and for personal enjoyment at home) all solid state with these, along with the...

    Oclaro/USHIO 120mW Single Mode 638 Diodes (HL63603TG)

Cool! I just purchased a bare diode to experiment with. I already have a P3, so now the only thing I'll need is one of daves mounts (3.8mm diode) and an acrylic lens. Then copy the setup again, add a pbs cube and I should have 400mw of red easily. Whats the beam like on these with the acrylic...

    Basic DPSSL analog help PLEASE....

Phasers are the main "dogfight" weapon in star trek, just like missiles they also have photon torpedoes, for that long distance attack. :) There are also Phaser rifles which are more powerful than hand phasers (the assualt rifle of star trek); these are featured quite a few times in Voyager...

Enough with Burning. LETS MAKE SOMETHING!

3K sounds about right - my DT40W's cost me $600 alone. Hence I am trying to go cheap on the red and do it with 2 x G71 diodes, a pair of correction optics, a wave plate and a PBS cube. This should get me close to a watt of red of which most will fit onto the 3mm apeture DT40W mirrors :P. A 1W...

    Oclaro/USHIO 120mW Single Mode 638 Diodes (HL63603TG)

Are these guys case isolated - these could be good to run in series off a flexmod P3 or similar for single mode 400-440mw in a projector - tonnes easier than knifing two G71's and then correcting them. All it'd take to combine these is a PBS cube.
