    Another DIY Tripod

The close up of the laser burning looks like some sort of evil robot attacking something. Sure looks industrial! +rep :)

Nitecore UM20 - Help me please

Was the lower capacity battery charging first?

Nitecore UM20 - Help me please

If you have an ipad/android tablet charger lying around plug it into that - that *should* supply enough current to charge the batteries simultaneously. If you don't have one but know a friend with an ipad, ask if you can try their charger with your um20. I believe iphone etc chargers won't...

    Another DIY Tripod

Yours looks way better than mine - nice design actually - now put some servos on the arm so you can remote manipulate it from an RC controller or gamepad :) Mines just a mic holder re purposed for holding lasers. Does the job though, but yours look way better :)

    x driver

I wonder if the OP by ground means "Does my X-Drive need to be thermal epoxied to the chassis so it doesn't overheat" and is wondering which device on the board needs to be epoxied?

    Wtb: 445 <$60

^agree - quite dangerous. 1 stray reflection and the reaction could mean he drops the laser and bad luck would have it, it would bounce and get him again. I hope he gets goggles for that laser. I finally got my arg 33's for mine (520nm 1W) and can finally have some fun with it burning stuff :)

    Putting a Flexmod P3 behind an X-Drive

Totally understand you cyp - cept what I need is an aiming beam - the switch would turn the laser off altogether hence using low current (0V modulation) to have the diode just barely lasing, then punch up to etching power when the switch is closed :).. I'll draw a schematic later and post it up...

    The DTR le-adapter V1

They are awesome quality - what model did you get hera? I got the 520nm NDG700 diode in mine. Stupid bright. I'm done playing with mine for now, until I get my goggles :)

    Putting a Flexmod P3 behind an X-Drive

I don't like the idea of a switch in the lasers supply (well physically). I don't want to introduce spikes. The whole idea of this is coz I already have the bits at hand. No one wants to take chances with a $370 (AU $500) diode :)

    The DTR le-adapter V1

Sigelei Zmax V5 WORKS! A video is worth 100,000 words so.... here we go :) Thankyou Jordan! this is the most awesome bit of kit! My friend bought it to me in hospital whilist recovering from a snake bite, and I am utterly impressed! YXZw42jYbuU I want a bwoo one next ;) Ben with the "Z-Lase"...

    Putting a Flexmod P3 behind an X-Drive

Gday folks Recently I got one of DTR's great 520nm diodes with a X-Drive behind it (pushing 1.8A). If I power this thing its straight up full power. What I need to do is have a low power aiming beam, then be able to switch to full power after putting my goggles on. My thoughts were...

    WTB: Variable Power Supply

I wonder if fitting a 555 timer controlled relay with LED to the cheaper supplies which delays the output for a few seconds during the switch on phase, would solve any problems of a switch on spike, giving the uC a chance to catch up and adjust regulation? Surely there would be room inside and a...

    another from oz, hello.

Hey welcome drcam No need to apologize about burning stuff - not all of us want to burn stuff. Some of us like lower powered lasers just to admire the beauty of the beams. Other like to build laser light show projectors, and some just like collecting gas lasers or obscure wavelengths like...

    The DTR le-adapter V1

So mine arrived, after I chased it down the street to a post office in the next suburb coz frigging australia post cant deliver. They suck. More bad news: My Sigelei box mod wont fire it. Nor will the Zmax V5 unless it is in mobile phone mode. I'm not even game to try that until my saftey...

What can you do with lasers in Australia?

A battery operated portable hand held laser is a prohibited weapon if the power output is over 1mW. You would probably also get busted if you take a lab laser module (mains powered, so not a battery operated hand portable) outside on an extension cord and point it into the sky, your neighbors...

What can you do with lasers in Australia?

I would also add that since you live in a major city like me, I would be very cautious about using it even in your back yard. Accidentally get it in your neighbours window, or have any reflections that escape outside the boundry of your backyard, it only takes one spoilsport to call the police...

    The DTR le-adapter V1

So glad I found this - I have a sigelei mini 30W box mod and a sigelei zmax v5 (tube style ecig... um e cigar more like LOL). Very naughty me ended up buying a green 520nm unit off DTR. Both "batteries" are VW and easily hit the 6v minimum required to "fire" this module. So when I'm not using...

Hi from Toronto, where can I find cheap high powered lasers locally?

Agree with the above, and above all a good set of laser saftey glasses (which you should buy before purchasing/building a high powered laser) will run you at least $20. That $20 can be replaced. You only get one set of eyeballs :)

I played the pokies... and won. With $50

I dont think anything bigger than an ipad air 2 will be that useful or more to the point, portable. My surface pro 3 (a 12 inch tablet/laptop) is plenty big enough, yet small enough to carry everywhere. I bought that machine in preparation to get a quickshow set to do laser light shows with...

I played the pokies... and won. With $50

Pokies - aka poker machine - many of you will more commonly know them as slot machines. Every bar and club over here usually has a room full of the bloody things. Usually one of the only places one can smoke on premises too... Here in australia we call them pokies. I was playing the 5 dragons...
