omni 543-200MA - quest for another Argon (was which exciter)

That was the plan - 3 mirror res - probably won't do anything tho. And yes current mode - the photodetector would otherwise send erroneous data to the psu :)

omni 543-200MA - quest for another Argon (was which exciter)

Wonder what the voltage drop across its tube was? I'm going to try experimenting with the omnichrome optics with the ILT - could be interesting.

omni 543-200MA - quest for another Argon (was which exciter)

Exactly - would have been a steal at the $150 I paid for it. Like brand new.

omni 543-200MA - quest for another Argon (was which exciter)

Coupla pics for ya: This shows the big hazmat stickers - theres a second one to the left. No doubts on it containing dangerous material! And heres the hours meter. What a waste :( edit: holy crap - thats a 33 hr tube - almost brand new. Even worse!

omni 543-200MA - quest for another Argon (was which exciter)

Mine were still there - on the opposite side of the tube to the gas reservior - big red and white stickers. I'll take a picture later when I take it out of the shipping carton to remove the useful bits.

omni 543-200MA - quest for another Argon (was which exciter)

I'll do the strip down later and bag it - thanks for the warning - I knew the stuff was dangerous, but only if you ground it up.

omni 543-200MA - quest for another Argon (was which exciter)

Your right - possibly in the back of the rubbish truck when the compactor kicks in. I'd better do some research into disposing of it. edit: that was easy - just fill in a form online and put it on the curb for collection on collection day. Just need to write on the box "HAZMAT - Beryllium...

omni 543-200MA - quest for another Argon (was which exciter)

It was the gas ballast. I had to remove the cover anyway as that was where I was going to put my tesla coil near to see if it ionised. The main tube was fine. Later I will carefully remove all the useful bits and toss the rest. I've got: 2 huge fans (lets make a wind tunnel!) 2 optics...

omni 543-200MA - quest for another Argon (was which exciter)

Sure did - seller watched my video and sent a refund and a very apologetic email - and I get to keep the laser. So I guess I now own a set of multiline optics, an ignite card and a frame LOL. :) So I guess this time I got what you would call a free ticket in the laser lottery. A few parts and a...

omni 543-200MA - quest for another Argon (was which exciter)

I know this is a double post. I open the box (in the video) and think to myself "This is gonna be broken. brace yourself!". I remained optimistic, and prayed to the laser gods to have pity on my new laser, but alas... YOU DO NOT PACK GAS LASERS LIKE THIS!!! I am not happy. I know I'll get a...

    LGI-101 Copper Vapour Laser System

It was a joke Laserbuilder - the laser you put together at the university was in several parts. Thats what I would call a self assembly kit :)

    LGI-101 Copper Vapour Laser System

Not only can you get parts for CVL's in your neck of the woods, you can also buy them as self assembly kits. I wonder if they ship to australia, and if customs would sieze it :P (shipping would be brutal) Well done mate :) tried to +rep you but need to "spread the rep" as I already +rep'ed you...

omni 543-200MA - quest for another Argon (was which exciter)

Re: omni 543-200MA which exciter? It will be a controller operated by an arduino nano. Since the voltage conversion tables are known and the pinouts, it should be trivial to have both current and light readouts on a 20x2 LCD along with status, and also be possible to emulate the real AR1A...

Homebuilt 3-5W Copper Vapour Laser System

Rivem: ha! I've not done a build in years. This CVL project is amazing. LaserBuilder, you have done an incredible job building this thing. I'm so surprised I didn't even see this thread till now. Probably because I've been concentrating on ions :P 2.2-2.3kW in for 5W out, much better...

omni 543-200MA - quest for another Argon (was which exciter)

edit: I changed the topic title, so that gas lovers can follow my progress with this unkown, but photo looking intact, low hours laser head. I'll soon be on the lookout for a power supply for this Argon laser head. Unfortunatly, I've read the 643_Series_Master_Manual, (which includes the 543...

    Photobucket just deleted;

Mine go onto my home server (with 2 disk fail redundancy), which in turn is backed up to an LTO4 tape drive, and I store those at a friends place. As a bonus, I scored a pile of 55aH batteries and rigged them up in a 50v system to power a monster UPS - which basically means the power has to be...

    Finally!!! LASOS argon laser!!!!

I have a similar set of glasses (wearing them in my profile pic). But I beg to differ with you. You should NEVER look into the beam of a working laser, no matter how low the power. Thats just asking for bad luck - what if the power supply went bonkers, supplied 20A to the tube and it jumped up...

Argon laser - Is this worth of buying?!?! Help

I'm not sure, however it wouldn't hurt in order to have evidence handy that shows you didn't cause the damage and it was damaged in transit, or from the outset. Of course if you get screwed by PayPal, theres also the option of credit card chargeback - but this will screw you with PayPal - you...

BBQ Piezo Argon Laser Tube Testing?

Great - I'll try the bbq thingie first then I'll go for the tesla coil. At 13 watts it shouldn't cause any problem but to be safe I'll still disconnect the starter/light feedback board and move them well away. I'll wait till I get the tube - I read these have a glass end bell, so it should be...
