Helios - Open source, low cost DAC

Hi, I'd like to share my newest project: Helios Laser DAC. It's an USB to ILDA DAC, with fully open source hardware and software. It's low cost but still powerful with good specs: 12bit XY channels, 8bit RGBI channels, up to 65+ kpps, up to 4000+ max points in frames, plug and play automatic...

    LasershowGen now with free edition!

Just released an update 1.4.0. It has new optimization code, it's much faster and better, but you might need to re-tune the optimization parameters in the settings page as some of their effects have changed a little bit. Also it has support for the LaserDock by wicked lasers. And many more...

    Wicked laser - laser dock

Well for what it's worth I will be supporting the LaserDock in my program LasershowGen. Hope to roll out support in time for when the LaserDock officially ships. But on a semi-related note, I haven't properly announced anything yet, but I will actually be releasing a fully open source DAC...

    LPF is harassing my downloads

I also experienced this, it's not a problem with LPF specifically, but with one of the advertising platforms LPF use. Here is more information: security - Browser downloaded this unobfuscated PHP script. What is it doing? - Stack Overflow

Gave Facebook the boot - never felt better - anyone else?

I would delete my facebook account if not for groups, particularly one group where local paragliding sessions are planned. A lot of local communities lack any other way of reaching each other online unless you personally know everyone and have their telephone number etc.

i am looking for a decent uk company?

I know Odicforce is based in the UK and they have a good reputation, but I don't know if they still sell assembled handheld lasers: OdicForce

4500mW Blue and 800mW Green at Bitlasers

Hi, Actually yes, I happen to have a Guidesman flashlight host with a side button clicky host laying around that I can build into laser for you if you are interested. Looks like this (the silver one): http://laserpointerforums.com/attachments/f64/31569d1298234620-delete-2011-02-20-16.28.15.jpg...

What happened to sci fi lasers?

The owner was overrun with orders he couldn't fulfill and decided to start scamming people until he was found out and shut the site down. http://laserpointerforums.com/f41/apology-everyone-97128.html

    LasershowGen now with free edition!

Just wanted to share that I have now split LaserShowGen into two editions, Free and Full. The free edition does not have access to the timeline mode for more complex shows, and has a max number of ILD file exports per day of 10. But this should be enough for many people, who now can easily make...

Compound changes infrared laser to white light retaining divergence

Came across this cool article today: New Compound Can Transform Infrared into Visible Light | Chemistry, Materials Science | Sci-News.com tl;dr scientists have discovered a compound that can transform an infrared laser beam into broadband white light, while retaining the superior beam...

Oculus Rift/HTC Vive / VR in general?

If you want a great value graphics card for VR I suggest waiting for the AMD Polaris cards likely being released within a month or two. Everything points to a card that is cheaper than 1070, likely $300 or less, but still competes with GTX 980 and the AMD Fury line performance-wise, at least...

Important step toward yellow LDs ?

Yellow lasers can be used in projectors and TVs. It's not common but some models do use yellow light sources in addition to RGB, to improve color reproduction: https://secure.sharp.eu/cps/rde/xchg/eu/hs.xsl/-/html/quattron-rgby-technology.htm

4500mW Blue and 800mW Green at Bitlasers

^ Well that is true for us enthusiasts but there's no getting away from the fact that the vast majority of pointers sold are still DPSS. If you search on aliexpress for just "green laser" for example, only one single ad out of the fifty or so results on the front page is 520nm. But I have...

    Future laser predictions

Combined RGB diodes would make me the most excited. Would open up a lot of doors. I can't think of anything that hasn't already been mentioned. Maybe some kind of cheaper/smaller/faster scanning galvo tech. Not related to pointers but it would be a godsend for the projector folks

4500mW Blue and 800mW Green at Bitlasers

I apologize but I do not think I will be able to build such a laser. All 460nm+ diodes I know about and can easily source are very high power, so much so that the threshold current is high enough to exceed 5mW even at the lowest current setting. It also wouldn't really be nearly as visible as...

    An Apology for Everyone

I don't think the excuses hold up either. By continuing to accept orders even though you knew perfectly well you weren't going to be able to deliver in due time, or at all, and stringing people along, you've crossed the line of being guilty of a crime and gross negligence, rather than just...
