Does anyone else prefer the "classic" hosts over the fancier ones?

AND -- They still work as good as new !!! Quality back then.......

Laser Pointer 532nm End of battery Key cap problem.

Is that a 532 nM ??? Is the battery installed correctly ? HM

Does anyone else prefer the "classic" hosts over the fancier ones?

I still have my OLD Dragon Laser 90 mW. She is at least 10 years old with peeling paint. I've carried it since new, dropped it several times and it still pops balloons !!!!!! Tough old girl..... HM

    Laser Dog

Shine a small laser onto a frozen, frosted window and see what the ice crystals do. Just like a personal sun dog. The Ice crystals form a nice ring around the spot. This works up north here! HM

Advice on removing Coherent FAP from TEC plate?

That's what I thought. Maybe a small drill hole at a rear corner and pry up. Heat was my last choice. I have one with the fiber output burned up -- my mistake :-( The bar was good and maybe I can side pump a small NdYAG rod !! Thanks HM It came off easier than a soup can lid !! Thanks

Could an LED be used as the probe for a LPM?

    Any interest? --- HM

Advice on removing Coherent FAP from TEC plate?

That was my first thought. Likely not "soldered". I'd like to know an easy way to open a FAP can !

    Fusion breakthrough draws energy gain

    You're right -- I forgot about the H bomb. That's how we start a fusion Reactor !!!!! :) HM

Could an LED be used as the probe for a LPM?

Matt --- I just happen to have a small Peltier cooler. It is about 9 mm square and three 3mm thick. I painted the hot side flat black and read 5 mV with a 100 mW green and 20 mV with a 400 mW. If you are testing lower power, this might work. Just add a heat sink on the back! I'll send it...

If it has a couple wires, Try it.. Nothing to loose ! HM

Could an LED be used as the probe for a LPM?

Many years ago at LPM, 100 mW Reds were becoming available. All we had was a LED and viol meter. Not calibrated but gave some indication of power. You might try a small diode cooling module. Paint one side flat black. HM

    Handheld Co2 Laser Project

There are two crystal phases. 808 nM to 1064 nM doubled to 532 nM.

    Making a portable CO2 laser?

And don't ever touch the high impedance foils on the laser tube. They will arc before you contact them !!!

    Handheld Co2 Laser Project

Point it at a small, say, 40W light bulb and watch the filament burn out! BTW, my wife wasn't impressed.... HM
