Maybe two part epoxy will work. Heat transfer will be small problem,that depends on the temperature of the diode.

hah,you need to be kidding me... :twak: One does not guess the battery voltage without a voltage meter. You can make a lot of mistakes by guessing the battery voltage. You really need a volt meter. There is no other way to fix this. A dmm is a must. When you get one,we can continue. :)

how do you know the voltage ? did you buy a DMM ?
