Documentary on Chinas heavy surveillance shows high power laser metal engraving with no safety glasses

Aren't mirrors are used to reflect all laser wavelengths? Mirrors are made of metal, metal reflects. Even if the metal somehow absorbed 100% of the laser, the glow of the metal alone could damage your vision, what do you think welding goggles are for? With a laser that strong, even a...

Documentary on Chinas heavy surveillance shows high power laser metal engraving with no safety glasses

Hahah. Who needs safety glasses when you're already blind right? Huh? Are you saying it's fine not to wear safety glasses being 2 feet away from a laser hitting shiny metal?

Documentary on Chinas heavy surveillance shows high power laser metal engraving with no safety glasses

The documentary discusses the insane security in China. The scene shows a high power laser metal engraver engraving someones ID number onto the blade cause it can be a dangerous weapon. Speaking of dangerous, no one is wearing safety glass while they are firing high powered lasers at...

Could Beams Be Combined Using Fiber Optics?

Really interesting, thanks for the response!

Could Beams Be Combined Using Fiber Optics?

Forgive my ignorance if I sound like a complete moron on this subject. But I was looking into different ways of combining lasers, and was thinking about using the knife edge method, when I thought of a potentially much better way, which I've never found any info on. What if you shine each...

    Laser module recommendations

I suggested it solely on the fact that it's a really great deal. I bought it, and I can confirm that it's a beast. I will say that it is unlikely it is reaching 8 watts though. 5-7 watts easily though when comparing to other lasers in the same ball park. Made a laser gun out of it. Made a...

    Laser module recommendations

The best watt per dollar I've found is this unit: https://www.ebay.com/itm/PWM-Blue-Laser-Engraving-Module-Focusable-450nm-8W-High-Power-Etcher-Laser/264137784877?epid=28031091452&hash=item3d7fd6be2d:g:ucYAAOSwaJ9cPIRy The divergence is not very good on this one though. I'm sure a beam...

Laser Tag Gun Into A Real Laser Gun(video, killing Iphone 6)

Oh yeah of course. Any time I'm shinning that laser at anything I wear eye protection.

Laser Tag Gun Into A Real Laser Gun(video, killing Iphone 6)

I just upgraded to Samsung S10+. It was my parting gift to apple. :)

Laser Tag Gun Into A Real Laser Gun(video, killing Iphone 6)

Yeah, but the sounds irritated me to the core haha. I actually only removed the fan in hopes I might get a little more power out of it. Not sure it added much if any, I might put the fan back on. Thing is though, the laser being on a gun isn't on for large periods of time often.

Laser Tag Gun Into A Real Laser Gun(video, killing Iphone 6)

Hey everyone. So This is my first actual DIY laser gun or pointer. It's a little sketchy looking but it works, and it's great value. Made a video of it killing an Iphone 6. Laser module link(Excellent deal)...

    Great Find!

I'm probably not in much of a place to debate here, but my other laser pointers are also high power blue diodes, same wavelength. I took the lens off of both my old 5 watt laser pointer and the new module. The raw diode flash light on the wall at the same distance, was actually smaller on the...

    Great Find!

I'm just using this to make a laser pistol for fun. Watt per dollar is all I'm after. :)

    Great Find!

Even so, laser pointers in this power range are usually $200-$500. $76 doesn't set you back very far. I think it's perfectly fine for a hobbyist looking to make something out of it. The fan cooling will extend it's life I'm sure, I had it on for 3-4 minutes straight and it was barely warm to...

    Great Find!

So I came across a "8 watt laser module", with a power supply, adapter and heat sync with fan, that was priced at only $76. Immediately I felt skeptical, since the cheapest I've been able to find a just raw 7 watt blue diode is around $80, and it was a Chinese seller. But since there were some...

Any Idea What The Power Rating Is Of These Chinese Lasers?

Thanks for the DTR reference. Seems like some good pricing on parts. Love that 7 watt diode. Anyone on here ever make an array of those 7 watt diodes joining with knife edge?

Any Idea What The Power Rating Is Of These Chinese Lasers?

They are both very large housings, but do not specify the output likely because they don't want to get busted. Fairly reasonable prices if they are very high watt. I haven't been able to find these lasers anywhere else, and I haven't seen any videos on either. Large silver...
