Emerald dust fireflies many twinkling dots DIY?

It won't really be random, you get the effect because you're mixing two gratings which causes the second grating to split up the beams made by the first one. When you rotate one the dots combine and split apart, but they will always be the same distance apart in the same pattern as that's how...

    FS: Multiline Argon!

Re: FS: Multiline Argon and 100mW+520nm! Just an FYI for those interested, the JDSU 2201 and 2214 series argons are internal mirror tubes, they have no brewster windows and no optics you can clean (well, not without ripping the tube open anyway) This is good in most cases, means you can't get...

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please BTW guys, that resonator assembly and crystal set are from the BW Tek 10mW 473nm labbies that were being dumped on ebay a while back.

PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please sub

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please I've seen those floating around on ebay before and considered buying one. Just some fiber coupled diodes on a water cooling block. Power could range anywhere from milliwatts to watts each. Likely 800-1200nm...

    Lexel 75 questions

Looks like I was thinking of the Lexel 88 being the single phase 240v jobby. Still water cooling for such a small argon seems kind of a waste ;) (quiet though)

    Lexel 75 questions

IIRC the Lexel 75 is the little guy that runs on 240v single phase (or can be modded to run on it easily) Either way 100mW is pretty pathetic. I have an air cooled JDSU cylinder argon here that runs on 120v and can do 160mW full tilt. Honestly I wouldn't offer more than $100 for it unless...

PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please sub

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please Are you asking if they can cool below freezing ( < 32F) or if you can reduce the cooling power (IE make stuff cool but not freezing cold)? Either way the answer is probably yes. Most 40mm TECs can reach...

DIY Thermal LPM for under $50

It also doesn't register anything below 200mW, unless you placed it on a negative rail. And even then you'd need something that could read the negative voltages.

DIY Thermal LPM for under $50

Unfortunately this circuit will not work well for this application. The use of the diode D1 will cause a 0.6v drop for silicon diodes, ~0.2v for schottky diodes which means the output of the opamp will be 200mW to 600mW lower than the true peak detected on the input.

    Air-cooled Argon-Krypton whitelight

It's funny that krypton plasma is actually quite blue, even on my krypton which currently has red only mirrors. You can see it where the metal end bells seal to the beryllium oxide bore of the tube before it enters the cooling fins.

    SOLD - 20W LPM! Scientech 365 w/Datalogging

Re: FS: 20W LPM! Scientech 365 w/Datalogging Bump, there aren't many LPMs that can do 20W with datalogging for 2x this price range.

    Bitcoin

Like said earlier, once you've been in the game for a few years it stops being so worrysome. My wallet effectively is now worth about $18,000 less but I ain't worried. I survived the 2011 slide from $32 to $2. Yawn. Wake me up if he hit single digits or something. ;)

    3D printers

Not on the typical homebrew ones, no ;) I will be using a THK linear guide actuator (I believe the proper technical term is a leadscrew, but it's a self-contained unit) along with some similar setups I've removed from DNA sequencers.

    3D printers

The guys at my local hackerspace Make: Lehigh Valley finished a scratch built reprap (i forget which model) not too long ago. The process is very fiddly and it still could use some fine tuning, but it gives pretty good results. It will be a big help once I start on the build of my personal...

Re: FS: 20W LPM! Scientech 365 w/Datalogging Toss me a PM next time you're in the area, I can bring some of my lasers over to the Make: Lehigh Valley hackerspace, we've got a 3d printer and tons of parts to mess with :san:

    SOLD - 20W LPM! Scientech 365 w/Datalogging

Re: FS: 20W LPM! Scientech 365 w/Datalogging The thermopile is in great condition, I can take some pics if you're still interested but unfortunately the last price reduction is probably gonna be the last, lowering the price any more would mean taking a loss on the microcontroller work that I...
