    Interested in Argon Ion lasers?

All ions that are for sale have been listed, unfortunately I am a gigantic derp because I realized I had sold my last controller for these argons. I was only able to test the 2101 compatible heads in light mode which caps out at 40mW +/- head sensor calibration. I listed pricing anyway cause I...

    Interested in Argon Ion lasers?

Bump, I plan on getting most of the lasers fired up and metered this weekend.

    Interested in Argon Ion lasers?

Most of the heads I have are JDSU / Uniphase The higher powered single line is a 2211-20SLE which has the round and square plugs on the end of the cable (requires a 2112 PSU) Hour meter is basically unreadable, my best guess is nearly maxed out at around 10,000 hours but this was likely at...

    Interested in Argon Ion lasers?

I took that picture a few years back at selem - it's djmatt's lexel 88 iirc. No idea on the coherent. Will do, it's a box style 488 head with a longer than usual umbilical cable, manufactured in 2007 I have an HGM5 tube if you would be interested in that, not sure if that would qualify as...

    Interested in Argon Ion lasers?

Yes, unfortunately. It's an Omnichrome (now Melles Griot) 643 which requires 240v. That one I know the specs of as it was recently tweaked and given a good run. Output power is maybe a smidge over 10mW but she lases on 5 lines once she warms up (it's listed in my sig) The one in the...

    Interested in Argon Ion lasers?

Hey everybody, I'm putting this thread out as a feeler for anyone who may currently be interested in buying some argon lasers. I'm getting to the point where I'm starting to trip over the damn things. (no MOM I'm not addicted I can quit any time I want) Noob notice: Argon lasers are large and...

Toshiba laptop failing after only 3 years.

The instant power-off is usually a symptom of overheating. You can download a program called CoreTemp to verify this is happening. If your CPU is known in the database, CoreTemp will list a Tjunction maximum. If your CPU hits that temp the motherboard pulls the plug to protect itself. Most...

Whole line of high power, fast laser diode drivers.

Looks like a great compact driver with great features. Good for laser projectors, not so good for pointers. If you're looking to make drivers for the pointer market you'll need buck and boost types for better efficiency and thus less heatsinking requirements. Soft-start is a good idea here...

    ANOTHER tornado machine :D

The laser lines look crazy good through the vortex - it's like a flat time tunnel type effect. From the pictures imo white looks the best, would you say the same to your eye as well?

    Nonsense with Cubote

    Nonsense with Cubote

If nobody complains, no action will be taken. Avery needs to know if things are being intrusive. Also this should probably be moved to Meta (suggestions, administrative ann)

    Laser against fowl

No, no laser you could obtain here or elsewhere on the net for a reasonable amount of money would do more than slightly irritate and annoy a rooster on your neighbor's property. If you are that determined to get rid of that problem, go buy a gun and deal with the consequences for killing your...

Game: Guess the mystery object !

Nope, this is a sealed device. It is, but what purpose does it serve? (hint: not an indicator lamp or spectral source) :tinfoil:

    First Argon ! ILT 5500A ML 30mW to 300mW :D

Now you need to get an ILT in cherry flavor to compliment it :)

Who wants to take a guess on this?

Building a PCB with a uC

I think you will need to have a professionally done PCB with SMD components to fit a microcontroller, leds, and a laser driver in a space small enough to fit in your project. With such a small battery you will either need one specifically designed for very high discharge currents (RC heli Lipo...

    First Argon ! ILT 5500A ML 30mW to 300mW :D

That's a pretty good deal for a multiline ILT 5500 argon. I paid Sam G more than that for my 5500 head that does similar output to yours; about 300mW at full current. The ILT 5500 is about as powerful as you get for an air cooled argon (HGM5 is the only one I can think of that does more)

Best power to cut paperand other thin materials without it burning?

Yes, combustion is what you want - but the high velocity of the assist gas blows all the combustion products away from the heat source, so there is no flames or embering. You definitely don't need oxygen for cutting paper, it's mainly used for cutting metal.

Best power to cut paperand other thin materials without it burning?

What you're looking for is an air assist system. I have a 40W CO2 laser based engraver and it will light the item you're cutting on fire if there is no airflow aimed where the laser is engraving/cutting. Machines designed for this have air assist built into the lens module, this serves a dual...

Pointer to operate under freezing conditions

For low temperature operation, you want to stay away from 532nm green pointers. The crystals used to make the green light are temperature sensitive. Your cheap drugstore type laser pointers just use a laser diode directly. The diode will work well into subzero temperatures but the problem is...
