You said you needed a signal, smallfreak suggested a search light but I have a flare gun from bass pro I've used a couple of times and can easily be seen from 2km away. Maybe that would work. It would help to know what you're using it for because right tool for right job and all that.

445nm is a I'd call it Azure color, the ones that are purple are 405nm to 420. If you're looking for burning like someone else said 405nm is more power dense than 445nm, a 1.5W diode Immo suggested can be found here...

Yeah that is MUCH better pricing. 500 for that 5w on BLP is a horrible price.

Yeah I agree, that's why I was thinking DIY, BLP resell a lot of stuff from other sites. I bought a 1.5W 445nm from them before I realized DIY building lasers was cheaper and much more fun.

Yes, that's actually where I purchased the Kardel 3W 445nm I also got a 200mw 405NM, the seller threw in batteries for free but they were Ultrafires so I didn't use them, also had some fake safety glasses that I tossed which turned out to be laser enhancing glasses so don't use those if you buy...

Ah, I bought my M140 from a seller near me who sells a lot of laser diodes and housings, but I bought a few housings from DTR and a driver so good to know that he's slow on shipping currently I don't mind a bit of a wait considering he's in the U.S so it shouldn't be too long. But thanks again.

I don't know about 3W. If you do build one yourself, A diode/set up paul1598419 recommended to me was the 2W M140 diode at 445nm, I'm still waiting on some heatsinks to come in from DTR to complete the build but I live in New England and I was able to find one for 18 dollars in Southwick Mass...

Anyone have an opinion on soldering this wire to a laser diode? https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11367 I've been testing how flexible it is and I saw something from DTR stating he uses a pretty flexible 26 gauge wire, although this is 22 Gauge anybody have experience with it? Thank you
