    Diode voltage drop?

Sorry for this noob question. I understand that normal rectifier diodes (i.e. 1N4001) have a forward voltage drop of about 0.7 V. And when connected in series, the drops in voltage should just add up, correct? Well, I've got two 3.0 V Soshine CR123A's (which are incredibly overcharged...

    70w ir

Uh... I was trying to make a joke... Y'know, about the whole "cooling" thing. Not that it was funny or anything.

    70w ir

Technically, although they're sometimes classified as radio waves, the next step from IR are microwaves, starting at around 1mm wavelengths. And I still don't know how someone could look at a laser and be like, "Hey, I bet I can use that to make things colder..." If I recall correctly, I think...

General laser facts FAQ: A Summary

Hey Wolf, nice FAQ. This should be useful to those of us who are just starting to fiddle with the laser hobby. And I'm not trying to be obnoxious, but I just thought I'd point something out. Technically, the verb "lase" is defined as "to emit coherent light", which we know to be a requirement...

Question about building a 16X red Laser

And, by the way, what you're referring to (drivers) aren't actually "chips." They are usually printed circuit boards with components mounted on them, whereas a chip is an integrated circuit which, like the name suggests, contains an entire circuit with everything needed for its functionality...

    Battery names

Aha, so the last digit specifies the form factor? What other numbers are used in place of the "0"? I'd think that it might begin to get slightly complex with different shapes. With a rectangular battery, you'd have to specify the base width and height, in addition to the length.

    Battery names

Okay, so, this has been bugging me for a while. Whenever I'm discussing anything electronics-related with my friends, we inevitably come across the topic of batteries, and when asked which type I have in a flashlight or something, I just say the first thing that comes to mind. But then I wonder...

    First build parts?

Right, but don't the diodes need a certain voltage to get to the lasing threshold? Which is why I was wondering if the FlexDrive setup would work, it only being 3.6V.

    First build parts?

Okay, I'm going to go off on a slight tangent. I now have a question about 8x BluRay diodes. I've read some mixed opinions on this, but basically I'm wondering if this setup would work: would an 8x diode (specifically, a BDR-S03) function properly at, say, around 350mA (325 would be acceptable...

Hey Drew, just to make sure, did you get my payment?

    GB for BDR-S03 8x blu-ray burner

    Schweet! :D

    GB for BDR-S03 8x blu-ray burner

Hey man, could I get one of those as well? Also the AixiZ module and harvesting. By the way, does harvesting include pressing it into the module?

    FS: 8x BDR-S03 Sleds $103.50

I see. Well, that works out better, then, because the rkcstr's cheaper. Hehe....

    FS: Pailide Laser Kit

Hey Moh, did you save one for me? I can pay you anytime now.

    FS: 8x BDR-S03 Sleds $103.50

What kind of voltages do you need to drive one of these with a FlexDrive? I know you mentioned that 12V is recommended for a rkcstr, but FlexDrive can't handle more than 5.5V. Would a standard 3.7V 14500 suffice? And is there any thoughts on the "optimal" current for these? Seems like they can...

    FS: Pailide Laser Kit

I see. Okay, thanks! By the way, would you mind reserving one for me until Monday? I think you said that you had around 8 kits left, correct? If you really need to get rid of them, then I understand.

    FS: Pailide Laser Kit

Hey Moh, I'd really like one of your kits. I was wondering what a good current setting would be for a 6x Blu-Ray diode (like the GGW). I was thinking maybe around 190mA.
  19. PlasmaCube

    First build parts?

Hmm, that's worth taking into consideration. What kind of current would the diode require for that kind of power? Like 150mA?
  20. PlasmaCube

    First build parts?

But the 6x is like $159.99. How would I be saving money? The PHR is only like $12.
