Five Months of Building *Lots of Pics*

While I need to wait for the budget to bounce back to start anything big, I couldn't resist building some more lasers.. I talked my roommate into splitting a bag of 75 red 5mW modules with me for 25 cents each. The last week has been fun! So far I have made three builds with them; two of which...

Five Months of Building *Lots of Pics*

Over the past few months, my interest in lasers has become an addiction. This post chronicles my builds from the last few months (including the first laser I have built). It all started last fall when my roommate and I were thinking about starting an engineering project. He is a sophomore...

    Ebay Seller Techhood

I tried the two AA idea earlier; when I did I couldn't see any light at all. Let's say I can film the grayish IR light, is there a way for me to personally adjust the crystals, or would this be something I should return to the seller?

    Ebay Seller Techhood

Hey all, I had heard some great things about the ebay seller techhood, so I decided to give him/her a shot. About two weeks ago I purchased a 100mw 532nm module, and I just got it this afternoon. Elated, I hooked it up to a 3.7 volt battery and the output from the module was very low... about...

    Question About Lens Refraction

That's what I meant. I assumed the light would be directed in the same direction as the diode emits it, though I wasn't sure if common laser pointer lenses cause diffraction that would angle the beam away from its normal position.

    Question About Lens Refraction

That could work. Well with that aside, does anyone know if changing the lens would change the overall exit angle of the beam?

    Question About Lens Refraction

Is that an issue? I just thought it would be nice to have the sight module the same wavelength as the main module.

    Question About Lens Refraction

It isn't so much necessary as I think it would be neat. The completed design will essentially be a laser pistol. The 20mw module will be the "laser sight" of the pistol; I chose it because it will be inexpensive, the same wavelength as the main beam, and bright enough to be useful. I am...

    Question About Lens Refraction

Hey everyone, I am planning to add a 20mw 445nm sighing diode to my current 9mm 445nm build. They will both be mounted in a custom host, but unfortunately adjustment of the diodes positions will be difficult once they are placed initially. My question is this: Do different lenses cause...

    Decent diode/driver for price?

Thanks for the advice! I will definitely look into one more.

    Decent diode/driver for price?

That's great! What voltage have you been running yours on?

    Decent diode/driver for price?

Were the units you purchased able to be dissected easily? I would like to put one in a different module in the future so it could fit my existing 12mm heat sinks.

    Decent diode/driver for price?

Hey guys, I am almost done with my 3W 445nm build and I will have pictures up very soon; it is unique to say the least. The other day I ran across this- High Quality Lab 532nm 100mW Green Laser Module Laser Diode Lighting Free Driver | eBay -on ebay, and I was wondering if anyone has any...
