    laser cutter

I'm barely able to build a diode laser since i started all this a couple of months ago, so building a CO2 laser cutter for him is out of the question :) And what Asherz said was pretty much what I said to him when he first mentioned it (about the cost and the danger). Thanks guys!!

    laser cutter

A friend of mine who is a graphic designer, asked me if it's easy to find a laser cutter (plotter) for his work. I didn't know, but I told him that I could ask the experts (that is you guys) ! He wants to have it at home and he wants to cut aluminium. That's all I know. And If it's easy to...

Doctor Who burning laser... Modification in the works...

The problem is that I cannot buy from the internet yet, because I don't use credit cards. Yes, it is odd, but i prefered it that way, but now i realise that the things I want to do NEED a credit card, so I'm going to have one in the near future. And i hate NOT to have D. Tennant's screwdriver...

Ι'd love to build one of these... but i can't find this sonic screwdriver here in Greece. I have River Song's and Master's screwdriver, but i'd like to have the Doctor's!

    Red Laser Pointer from Rayfoss

I'd like to ask you guys, since you know better about these companies, if these laser pointers from rayfoss are powerfull enough to pop balloons and light matches. www.rayfoss.com Lasers&midclassname=Red Laser&smallclassname=200mW Because according to their price they seem too good to be true...

problem with my 200mW green laser

Actually yes... I'm an X-Ray Tech after all and i do know some things about electricity... And I really apreciate you explaining to me, and all of the other guys here with your information. problem with my 200mW green laser

Thanks for the information! And yes, I would like some technical explanation, thank you. Oh I took it out of its case and the pen was HOT to touch!!! It cooled only when I took the module out and turned the screw to the right! Did it emit IR just by sitting there in tis case??? A photo of it.

problem with my 200mW green laser

Thanks for the info. So, is it useless now? Can i open the module and replace the diode with one taken from a DVD writer? Some questions may be silly, but remember, I'm new to this!:undecided:

problem with my 200mW green laser

Two days ago i spent the morning burning black tapes with my 200mW green laser pen. The next day it was weak, so i changed the batteries (new, from the same pack) but the beam didn't get stronger. I changed two pairs of new batteries, since that. Still nothing, so it doesn't burn anything...

Thank you all! You are right about the goggles. The next thing I'll buy! And when the 300 mW arrives, I'll post some photos!

    pod mod gone bad... help!

It happened with my first cheap 100mW pen, too. Only I turned it to the left (as you should, not clockwise) , there it was, the dim red light (infrared right?) and when i turned it to the right again it went back to normal.

Yes, with a lot of practice... and the right equipment and parts you already have. I don't think you mean 1/2 hour including the time you need to buy stuff...

    DVD writer laser on this???

I wanted to see if i can make a cheep green chinese laser (100mW but i don't believe it) more powerfull so i opened it and turned the little screw to the left, but there was only a dim red light you barely see, not a laser beam. When I turned it to the right again, the green laser beam appeared...

    Greetings from Greece

Hi everyone, I'm 33 years old, I'm an X-ray tech and I live in Piraeus, Greece. I wanted to start this hobby back in 1994 when i was still in high school, but lasers were veeery expensive and the technology was not as advanced as it is today. My Physics teacher inspired me back then. All this...
