    100 Watt HID Mod

I'm sure it would easily light stuff on fire with a magnifying glass... About your 5mW laser comparison. I don't know the math, but I have a radiometer, and the only thing that can make it spin the way the 100W HID does, is if I point a 5 Watt laser at it... (pretty close comparison) :D

    100 Watt HID Mod

:thanks: Yes it will light a match on the Moon! Actually I don't know why I couldn't light a match. Could be something to do with the focus?? But if HID's can light matches, I don't see why this bad boy couldn't light a match because it can seriously beam...

    100 Watt HID Mod

:thanks: Just looking forward to my camping trip next month so I got motivated on a couple of new builds... That said, it's honestly just a show piece. (king of the shelf!)

    100 Watt HID Mod

I know what you mean... Hey check this out! Radiometer: (had to remove the beam from my radiometer after 5 or 6 seconds or it would have blown up) Lol... UyXDP0kfhqY

    100 Watt HID Mod

:bumpit: So today I tried the second bulb that was in the kit and it was much closer to the 4300k that I was hoping for... So I have updated the original post with these latest beam shots: This beam and spot blows away any other HID I have. Seems twice as bright as my 85W, and same for my...

    100 Watt HID Mod

I think they mostly sell 8000k... Can you detect a bluish tint to the beam in the night sky? About your question. I'm just one of those 'tinker' type of guys. I've had probably just about every hobby you can imagine. Have you ever built an RC heli? That's probably one of the trickiest things...

    100 Watt HID Mod

Yes I still have that and the spot on this thing seems twice as bright! But it's all about the color temp... In general, the larger the reflector, the better the throw, so this build will out throw the other, but to me getting the 4300k is a bigger difference... Anybody know where I can get a...

    100 Watt HID Mod

I once modded something similar for a customer and I've since wanted to make one for myself... The host and battery shown below are a perfect fit for each other... :) Note: I have updated this post with my latest beam shots using the other bulb that came with my HID kit. This second bulb was...

Hi BobMc, Welcome to LPF! Let me recommend an easier assembly kit: http://laserpointerforums.com/f64/fs-18650-build-kit-easy-assembly-445nm-blu-ray-red-43857.html Send me a PM and I can point you in the direction of the diode/module to get, and remind you of proper eye protection...

100 Watt 10,000 Lumen LED 'DayMaker' Flashlight Build

Yeah just a nice dust shield as long as it didn't block the air flow coming through the tube. Like a normal flashlight lens same diameter so that it can just fit right in the existing lens mount... :)

100 Watt 10,000 Lumen LED 'DayMaker' Flashlight Build

Yes evens it out and also makes it wider. Wider but that takes a little away from the central brightness because it spreads it out...

100 Watt 10,000 Lumen LED 'DayMaker' Flashlight Build

Got a second lens today so I could experiment with sanding the back side... Wet sanding did not work too well so I put a very light etch with my sand blaster: The yellow ring is now gone... (Spot on the wall at 4' distance) Stock lens: Etched lens: Adding to OP...

100 Watt 10,000 Lumen LED 'DayMaker' Flashlight Build

With the normal sized LED's that I have worked with such as the XML, the larger the reflector, the better the throw. (in general) I realize this thing is a huge emitter and will have a wide output no matter what, but I'm thinking it can have better throw with that larger reflector and lens...

100 Watt 10,000 Lumen LED 'DayMaker' Flashlight Build

Yes I like it so much that I ordered parts for another... I want to see how well that 4" lens will do. Hopefully make it beam. (wide beam) But I'm guessing that the lens will not fit inside my 4" pipe, so it will be a different build. This flood is a very useful light though. I will...

100 Watt 10,000 Lumen LED 'DayMaker' Flashlight Build

Well not knowing too much about where to put a PWM, I'd probably not attempt that... It would be nice if I could just put a pot before the LED (after driver) because it is so easy to get to. But in view of having a boost driver, it seems that the best thing would be to turn down the voltage pot...

100 Watt 10,000 Lumen LED 'DayMaker' Flashlight Build

Hmmm not a bad idea... It would be fairly easy to make a way to adjust the voltage pot on the driver. Might do that maybe, but probably leave it as is for a while and see how it goes...
