    Huge power drop on DHOM

The external lens? It's good. I cleaned it too, using a professional fibre optic cleaning kit. Pump diode degraded?

    Huge power drop on DHOM

Hey all, It's been 10 months since last I "played" with any laser. Just been so busy with other activities. I powered up my 1.6W DHOM and was rather disappointed that it peaks @ 900mW. Even after an hour warm up. I powered it on/off several times, but it always settled @ around 900mW. I...

    500mw 635 C-mount questions

My advise is to keep it at or slightly below the recommeded current. These aren't like to 445s or 638s that are rubust and can handle overspec'd current THESE POP QUICKLY WHEN YOU USE TOO MUCH CURRENT...even 100-200mA extra I speak from experience....

Anyone from Haifia shine laser at cruise ship?

We stopped in haifa on the MSC Magnifica crusie ship on Dec, 12 and left the 17H00 13th. I was sitting on the balcony outside my cabin watching Haifa becoming smaller and smaller, the city bathed in orange light. It was about 18H15 and I noticed a very distinguished green light. Then I saw the...

Anyone else notice that Nichia's 445 spec sheet got a power boost last month?

If these are rated higher than the 5.6mm we use, we can probably push them to 3W!

This is why lasers are banned in australia due to idiots

Only perhaps because I tend to shine mult watt lasers into sky. I like to stay on the right side of the law and adhere to all the safety requirements. Actualy SA has a very relaxed laser law. I just feel if I do things right hopefully they won't go all "Australia" on me (and other SA laserists)...

This is why lasers are banned in australia due to idiots

If guys REALLY have to need to point their laser into the sky all they should do is contact their local authorities and get a certificate. The authorities would then send a message to NOTAM (notice to airmen) allowing you to shine your laser into the sky(obviously not at the planes!!). Details...

Advice on laser for CNC applications

Even focused 100mw won't do too much, expect maybe cut some nice designs in insulation tape. However, 405nm focuses really good with an incredibly small spot. Focused 500mw 405nm would do some nice cutting on thin black plastics. But I believe the actual cutting would still be pretty slow. If...

It is Here.!!!!! 300mW "635nm" Mitsubishi.....

I wonder if we are in for a surprise? Remember when 445's were selling upwards of $250 on eeebay. Someone made huge profit. Then all of the sudden we discovered the projector and havested them for <$50. I really, really hope something similar happens and these 0.5w reds become available for <$20

    TEA Nitrogen laser problems (homemade)

I built a TEA nitrogen laser around 2001. I used an HT from a small TV. I tried and tried and tried and tried and eventually got it to lase. I then terminated the project. They are so noisy to operate it was actually anoying me. For quick results, use a closed cavity with some low pressure N2...
