That was me writing that on DX. To actually see what the laserhead is marked with you have to take the whole construction appart. Open the back, screw of the head and push the aluminium piece out from the inside. Or force it out with a big pliar. On the brass body of the laser unit it was marked...

Make sure you have enogh current. I first tried with a 5v 300mah psu and got the same result as you. Could not burn anything even when focused. When i changed to a 7.2v 800mah psu things SMOKED really good. I fried my mouse mat quit good ;D And plastic bags goes right though in a jiffy!

Update: My laser broke totally after 1-2min of use - no better with a different battery either. I took it apart and to my suprise i've been f..ed. The laserhead was marked by the manfacturer (SXD) with 30mw!!! And it's not even putting out anything near that while it was working. I have opened...

Mine came a week ago and I took it out from the post office a couple of hours ago! And it's CRAP! It puts out less than 5-10mw (I also got the true 30mw pen). It goes on quite strong and drops within a second - not even close to the advertised power. Mine is also missing any markers on the box...

Ahh! Mine is in the mail now and trackable - so it's definently sent :D.. I just hope it's worth the hype and puts out a wopping 90mw of green goodness!

A neat trick is to take a small piece of wood - like a 2x4. Drill a hole just a litte bit bigger than the silvery top of the pointer - about 1.5cm deep. Put in the top and start jiggeling in all directions. That loosend up my 30mw True in one minute. Just don't forget to take out the batteries...

I also ordered two of those 10mw's plus batteries, and they got shipped yesterday ;) *ohh joy*. So i'll guess i'll have them in a couple of days - unless customs is doing a raid (my two last shipments from DX got stuck in Swedish customs. One really small + one big parcel). Grrr... >:(

I have the same laser. I tried it with a Nokia phone charger rated at 320mah and it did not burn anything. But when i changed to a newer Nokia charger rated at 880mah magic started to happen! So i dought the USB port can supply that kind of juice!

Same here.. I ordered mine on the 5th and now it started to change status. The latest update is: Ready for shipment shortly via tracked airmail. But the strange thing is if i look at the invoice it says "ordering". Seems with DX that you newer know until you can track the parcel with HK post.

UPDATE: Tried the laser module yesterday with a more powerfull 5.7v 880mah psu. And VIOLA :D focus adjusted it ripped through a blue plastic bag instantly (full power on the pot) at a distance about 1m (+3 feet). I tried to put my black mousepad infront of it and it started smoking right away...

I got mine to yesterday. Exactly the same model as on the picture. I tried mine yesterday but was unable to make anything smoke, even if i turned up the power to maximum. I re-adjusted the focus on the module to make a pinhole sized dot, and then i managed to make black electric tape to smoke...
