    PBS cubes

Nope everyone I use above 5 w seems to brown out eventually like in months but still. Much worse obviously with blue diodes. Red never causes this. Green does but takes years. Can you knife edge? I also use a wave plate to rotate polarization when using a cube to overlap the beams. I then...

How do I turn a lazer diod on/off quickly?

There isn’t enough power to create a heat problem. Pulsing them isn’t going to increase the peak power so if you desire more juice you need more diodes or bigger diodes. You need to calculate the amount of energy absorbed which is very complex in living tissue. Since this is IR also be...

    PBS cubes

I think you might be better using dichroic as it is thin and can stay cool. That kind of power will likely burn the glue holding the prisms together.

    Best laser for arborists

I’d stick with green or yellow. The reason plants are green is they reflect green. Using red they will absorb the light and be less visible. Still diode green is the right way to go.

I know nothing about lasers and need help dealing with scientific research lasers

I use this laser. You need at least a 5 w green to drive it. The tisaph does 800nm and is tuneable. The pulse picker is used for locking to the output for boxcar averaging of the 8 mhz output. It’s driven by an 80 mhz dpass Verdi. Anderson has no interest in such lasers and really these are...

First Hologram With A Semiconductor Laser

How did he get the laser. Back then they were thousands of dollars and that meant 100k

    Laser to disable drone cameras

Guess you can ban me then. Look dude if you use a laser to target a drone camera you are going to give your position away and get killed. Most likely you will miss the actual sensor. If You get a lucky strike you might damage the camera and leave some bad pixels but chances are low you will...

    Manufacturer statement regarding decanned diodes

Helium will leak out pretty fast. That is why I keep picking argon. Cheap and heavy

    Manufacturer statement regarding decanned diodes

Looks like water vapor is the main issue. Nitrogen could be depositing nitrides on the surface that burn off as show in nitrogen. Nitrogen is very reactive. My take away is you need ultra pure ultra dry argon or neon or helium To seal the can. I’d go argon as it is heavy and less likely to...

    DIY fiber coupling?

If you see 160mw with 900mw input and the fiberis not 500’ long you have not coupled to the fiber well and likely the NA isn’t matched. A fiber has a tight entrance angle range in which light can enter. If the cone of light isn’t matched you can’t put the light in the pipe. The NA or...

Anyone else like using lasers to eradicate spiders?

7w 445nm was marketed for eradicating certain algae in aquariums. Sure hope they had protection as it’s reflected off the glass multiple times unpredictably. It does work however.

Any time table or cost? Very very interested.

    NUBM0G

Going back to the heat sink conversation, has anyone used indium foil on these diodes to get better transfer? This might make a real difference. No power supply hit either.

Conversion of multi mode to Gaussian beam profile

https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/jbio.201700213 looks interesting. Lots of glass however.

    flexmod p3 laser drivers

They were capable of like 1amp. Plus pain and suffering. The first batch was great but the second with added bells not so much. Never knew why. They were also really touchy but yea nice driver for the time. Miss Andrew he was a great guy.
