    Ideal Current for Laser

Alright, thanks for the advice. I don't have safety goggles for 808nm so I'll just do that one later then. The safety goggles are really expensive though. Any place I can get 808nm goggles for cheap?

    Ideal Current for Laser

No, it was the + pin. no way to fix that as far as I know. I probably wont put my new one in that small laser pointer, not enough space to work in. I have a small LED flashlight that I think would be perfect. I'll get to work on the flashlight so it'll be ready when the diode comes. I also...

    Ideal Current for Laser

NOOO! The pin broke off the diode:cryyy::banghead: $20 down the drain. oh well, not to bad. now I know to be more careful. I ordered another one, now I have to wait like 3 weeks till it ships from china. I guess it's no lasing till then and back to focusing on school :lasergun:

    Ideal Current for Laser

Good info, thanks Larry. chipdouglas, I'm actually having a little problem with the lens :undecided: I turn the inner part but it doesn't adjust. It's doesn't seem like the lens is moving at all. I'm still deciding on the host. I ordered something like this: New Powerful Red Laser Pointer Pen...

    Ideal Current for Laser

Thanks chipdouglas, I'm pretty sure it's a 6x. I'll look into the lithium ion battery. Are Lithium Ions rechargeable? I have this lens. 405nm laser /445nm laser collimation lens/glasses lens | eBay Though I'm having a little trouble adjusting it. It's unfocused when it's too close and too far...

    Ideal Current for Laser

I have a 405nm 250mw laser diode (at least that's what the title said when I bought it). I put it together with this driver. 405nm 100-300mw Laser Diode Driver Reverse protection | eBay I'm using 2AAA batteries to power it up. I was wondering what would be an ideal current for burning and long...

    Minimum Volts For Burning?

Would the efficiency depend on each individual diode? I mentioned in the very first post 'lighting a match or popping a balloon' and melting thin plastic would probably go under that as well. So 100mW would be minimum for all that?
  8. E

    Minimum Volts For Burning?

The specs said it's 250mW but who knows how true that is. Power is Volts times Amps, so if you put in 4V you only need about 62mA to get 250mW. That means the current has to be minimized to 62mA. Isn't that what the driver is for? But the question still remains of what the lowest power is that...

    Minimum Volts For Burning?

OH, Sorry. I kinda got confused. For some reason I thought the diode specs given are mV not mW  dunno where I came up with that. So the current supplied to, let say, a 200mW will have to be more than a 100mW, (for like a 405nm diode and a decent lens) and have about the same voltage...

    Minimum Volts For Burning?

What is the minimum diode voltage required for burning things (like lighting a match, or popping a balloon)?

405nm laser diode. How Do I Focus Laser?

How much would it take to fry a diode?

405nm laser diode. How Do I Focus Laser?

I don't think I fried it. It still glows as bright as it did when I first got it. It's just out of focus.

405nm laser diode. How Do I Focus Laser?

I hooked up the 405nm diode with the driver from the 5mw red laser and it doesn't work. :yabbem: I don't think the driver is compatible with the diode. I ordered a driver for 405nm diodes and a lens. Now waiting for it to arrive.

405nm laser diode. How Do I Focus Laser?

Ok, so where pins connect to the driver there is VCC, LD, and PD on the driver. The VCC will be neutral pin, LD positive pin, and PD negative pin, right? The driver VCC, LD, PD are set up the same as this diode. Case pin on the bottom of the driver, LD and PD on the top.

405nm laser diode. How Do I Focus Laser?

The module, driver and lens came from a cheap $10 5mw red laser pointer I bought from a store some time back. That driver on ebay has adjustable output current so it would make life easier. I'm a bit confused on how you would connect the diode to the driver. I looked it up, some say you only...

405nm laser diode. How Do I Focus Laser?

Alright. I already have the diode in the module. I have a lens from a 5mw red laser but it hardly focuses it. And i have a driver from the red laser, would that work? cuz I put the diode together with the driver and it didn't seem to work. I think this driver should be good. 405nm 100-300mw...
