Hey guys, I'm in the market for a more powerful 532 nm laser, and my budget is under $200. Right now, I'm considering either the HL 300mW ($161), or the PL 200mW ($145) from LaserBTB (see picture below). I've read a lot about the pros and cons for each, but I'd like to see what some of you think...
Re: XPL discussion - "the miracle company"
I'd also be interested in reading a review, particularly about the duty cycle, beam quality, and power (if you have an LPM). I'm getting impatient for the new hosts, and the current hosts for anything above 200mW don't really appeal to me. So the same...
Re: XPL discussion - "the miracle company"
I just wanted to update everyone about the new hosts without creating a new thread. I talked to the owner about the release of his more powerful 532 nm handheld lasers (500-2000mW) with the improved host, which some of us hoped would resolve...
I just chose a conservative number, maybe not "typical" I suppose. Sometimes I might kneel down, balance my arm on my knee, and keep the laser more stable that way if I'm aiming at the tree line far away. Here, I might be a foot away from the laser. I really need to buy or build a tripod :shhh...
I like to use my 3W 445nm Sanwu outdoors at golf courses very late at night when no one is around. I aim at the tree line, far away from people or reflective objects several hundred feet away. I love to look at the beam outdoors without eye protection, but of course I never do this indoors or...
In an earlier thread, someone made the observation that the laser is being held very close to the LPM in that video. I don't know enough about LPMs to say if that would affect the readings, but it might be something to consider.
Unfortunately not. I got into contact with laserface a couple weeks ago before I left the country on vacation, but I'm having trouble getting back into touch with him now. He has a LPM and offered to help test my new 3W blue and boosted "15 mW" Optotronics green. I'm not seeing a difference...
How much of the beam that we see from a powerful laser pointer is visible due to particles in the air? If you were to use your laser in an environment without any particles, would you still be able to see the beam due only to Rayleigh scattering off the air molecules?
I work in a Class 100...
Podo recently made my 3W Spiker in 3-4 days, and it shipped via standard (not expedited) Hong Kong Post from Hong Kong to Boston in 5 days. Tracking info is useless, though not Podo's fault, and I was shocked when it suddenly arrived.
Hey, just seeing if you're going to be free some time this week to help me measure the output power of the 3W Sanwu, and if we have time, an Optotronics green that I boosted with a Li-ion and dummy. I've been back in the US since Friday, and my family is shipping the Sanwu down to me. Should be...
I'm planning to buy their 500mW or 1W 532nm in September, since the owner told me that the new hosts will be ready at the very end of August. I'll check with him in a couple weeks and report back, though Sta seems to be in frequent contact with him as well. You can look for a review from me at...
Lasers, location, and profile pic added! I'll keep an eye out for updates from Xiaopeng, and XPL threads on reviews of their higher power 532 pointers and new hosts. There seem to be a few early problems, but let's see if the company can work out the kinks with their new hosts.
I contacted him one hour ago and he responded almost immediately. His reply was
About the new host, I think we will complete it at the end of this month. Of course, if you need only the adjustable head, we can do it with our old shell.
Thanks,
Xiaopeng
So we're looking at the end of August...
Ha, I wish since I love shooting. I'm based in Austin, one of the most liberal cities in the US with a massive vegan and anti-gun culture (at least on campus). Outside of Austin I've heard its a lot different, but I haven't ventured out that far yet.
Wow, this is an active forum! Already 5 replies after only 1 day. Happy to see some other Texans on the boards. Thanks for the especially warm welcome Gadget!
Hi, I'm a graduate engineering student in school at UT Austin. I started using lasers to analyze minerals (Raman spectroscopy), and developed an amateur interest in laser pointers while getting to play with the powerful 532 and 633 nm lasers on our machine.
