    Blu-Ray DDL GB Diode Pin-Out

Hi, I dissected my blu-ray last night, and I didn't realise there were so many pins! Does someone have a diagram out there that explains which one is which! I know there is one for blu-ray, one for the Red LD, and one for the Infra-Red LD, pulsed + GND. But I can't tell for the life of me which...

LM317 Driver problems - I can't get the voltage up

Re: LM317 Driver problems - I can't get the voltag Edit: OK, I sat down with a cuppa and read ALL of the DDL's driver post. I had read upto 20 ish a while back, but let it run away. On page circ. 30, I found the answer! Voltage will sort itself out to get the current sorted :-) I have a good...

LM317 Driver problems - I can't get the voltage up

Hi, Ok, this is probably due to my electronics knowledge (or lack of it!) I've setup a LM317 as per sed diagram I've got a 50ohm pot and a fixed 10 ohm in together. I'm using 4x 1N4001 diodes in series to simulate the load. My min voltage is 2.86V @ 20.7mA and when I crank the pot up I get a...

    Stonetek SALE !!*ended*

Re: Stonetek SALE !! Whoooo! Greg, why didn't you tell me sooner!?!? I've now ordered the last 3 diodes for the hex laser! Order number:16 My bank balance now officially reads: "Skint"  ;D Dan :-) Edit: BTW, nice store, I still don't know why you have 2 though!  ;) Edit Edit: What is...

Happy SenKat Friday. LDs for 15 bucks!

I just stretched my bank balance to breaking point and ordered my last 3 (for now!) so, that means I have enough diodes to complete my hex laser! Whoooooo..... :D ;D It's far from finished - still in design and collecting materials stage. @Pyro - thanks for letting me know about the sale, I...

    signature help!

Nice sig! I use this site for help with commands that aren't a button in sigs or posting: http://www.opendx.org/cgi-bin/forum/YaBB.pl?action=help (Scroll right down to YaBBC reference) Perhaps a moderator or c0ld could post something like this too? Dan :-)

    Scanning Basics + Terminology etc.

Do you really think we could get 10 people to order? I think I'll wait and save for the 30k anyway.... Dan :-)

    Scanning Basics + Terminology etc.

ahhh....How soon is soon??? :P I think this will have to be 'self funded' as my family really can't see the point in lasers nor what the attraction is. :'( Nice idea though! Dan :-)

    Ferrofluid!!! Magnets and Lasers :D

You might be in luck if you use a weak coil, if you just want 'bumps' and no spikes, that may work better, as it will reflect the beam 90% and not randomly scatter it. I had an idea (not laser related) of connecting a jar of this stuff up to a speaker coil to have a ferrofluid visualiser, but...

    Ferrofluid!!! Magnets and Lasers :D

Not much unless it's a fair size coil. With normal iron magnets you only get a few spikes, sometimes just a mound. But I used Neodymium magnets which are the strongest permanent magnets you can get, hence the 100's of spikes. When I first got them, I put 2x 1/4" ones on a desk about 15cm apart...

    Scanning Basics + Terminology etc.

Rog - I'm interested in the 30k scanners, like you said he might offer discount (on postage and the product) if we bought together. I don't want to build your hopes up too much, I REALLY REALLY want these, but I just can't afford it (yet) so TBH, it's going to be the other side of Christmas...

    Scanning Basics + Terminology etc.

Andy and xGeek, thanks for all your replies - I'm learning so much now! Also I've had this back from the Moncha people How quick is that??!?  :) I asked if they were compatible with the 30k laserpic galvos + prices + discount?

    Ferrofluid!!! Magnets and Lasers :D

Hi all, I posted before that I had some ferrofluid to play with from a year or so ago, and Philguy PM'd me about it's use with lasers. I'd have never have thought of that! Well, I've done some tests: 1.) Reflectiveness - VERY good, only some absorbed, non passes through the liquid. 2.)...

    Scanning Basics + Terminology etc.

Thanks for the pic xgeek. All I'm after is a set of galvo's (hopefully the 30k ones!) and the equipment to hook it up to a PC, I'm not interested at all in DMX and built in patterns. I'd rather drive them all from a PC. So I'd just need the following right? 1x Set of Galvos 1x DAC (the...

    GB laser barrels

Re: GB feeler laser barrels Kenom, I would STRONGLY recommend having a tiny blob of thermal compound around the diode anyway, and then press fit it in. This way all the microscopic pits will be filled in, and the efficiency will increase! That's what they do a processor / heatsink setup. The...

Fluorescent glow dye for green and violet lasers

Re: Fluorescent glow dye for green and violet lase Is it worth me sending for a few samples of each colour from the shop I mentioned before? @Glowdye: When you say $10 per pound, is that price applicable to every colour? or just 1? Also, please could you post a list of all of the chemical...

I got this back from him today: (He didn't include shipping prices though :( ) I also asked him about ILDA compatibility as I saw it in the manual saying it was optional or something...

    Scanning Basics + Terminology etc.

Hmmm.... I like the sound of that too! I think I might save up for the 30k set if they are not that much more. Yes it make take me a month or two more, but in the end, I'll have a fantastic scanner! Is Norm's circuit upto 30K galvos? or is it 10-16k only? Cheers! Dan :-)

Fluorescent glow dye for green and violet lasers

Re: Fluorescent glow dye for green and violet lase I found this on their site: http://www.scuddlebutt3.co.uk/FAQ.htm I might get 1 of each to try! (My blu-ray is still in bits - I'll have to get a move on!). Also if you look on the FAQ page on their catalog, you can buy bigger 100g packs for...

    Scanning Basics + Terminology etc.

Rog! You never cease to amaze me - I know it's not the best piece of kit, for an all inclusive package (minus laser obviously) for £180!!!?!?! That's getting on for DX prices.... And through the soundcard too - cheeky but clever! The software looks old, and is probably an emulation of the amiga...
