    DX 30mW Order - Delays - Now Fixed!!! :-D

Got it today!!!! Whoooooooo...... It actually arrived yesterday, but no one was in, so I had to pick it up at the sorting office today. :( BUT: It's amazing! I haven't tried setting fire to anything, but you can see the beam! It's not bad in daylight - more like a faint trace, but in darkness...

    GB laser barrels

Re: GB feeler laser barrels Kenom, don't worry at all. You don't sound anything like dictator! Either way, I'm sure this will be a truly fantastic product! Keep me posted if you need a hand with the CAD designs, then you might be able to save some $$'s..... Dan :-)

Kiplay's at it again! This time - BluRay!

Lol - and sorry - it just appeared in my instructable RSS feed! :D

Kiplay's at it again! This time - BluRay!

http://www.instructables.com/id/Blu-Ray-Laser-Phaser!/ DDL - get stocked up on your Blu-Ray diodes. ;D I know he's using the circuit from the 'phaser' but I can't believe he's only used a resistor. :o It's DIY Red/Maglite all over again. :( I guess this is good becuase of 'lasers to the...

    GB laser barrels

Re: GB feeler laser barrels OK, I know what you mean. What I'll do is, I'll finish my designs and make one for myself as a one off, as I know now how much you really want to see this through. I'll keep checking back to see how this goes. If the manufacturers let you down or can't do the...

    GB laser barrels

Re: GB feeler laser barrels Just out of interest, what was the thread in the end?

    GB laser barrels

Re: GB feeler laser barrels Kenom, I know what you mean, but I was only talking about cutting the top part of the aixiz module to 'harvest' the thread, and press the thread in, (with the lens), leaving the LD space to be pressed directly into the big aluminium casing as before, so you are using...

    GB laser barrels

Re: GB feeler laser barrels Nice one Rog! I love your diagrams :-) In order to mass produce them quickly, I'm going to get a milling cutter ground the the exact profile of the steps and diameters needed. Then it will mean I don't have to touch the lathe for cutting the ledges.... In the long...

    LPF VIP Membership

I think it's a good idea, but I feel a 'one off' fee should apply. $10 for life!..... Or, just start a donations box!

    GB laser barrels

Re: GB feeler laser barrels We CAN collimate, because we ARE using the LENS from the TOP part of the aixiz module. i.e. the black bit. (I hope you don't think I'm being rude - I just used the caps to clarify) Off to a bonfire!  :D then I'll sort some drawings out if time permits. Dan :-)

    GB laser barrels

Re: GB feeler laser barrels I didn't mean threading anything, sorry, mustn't have made that clear. I was talking about removing the thread from the aixis top section and pressing that into the heatsink. I think we both mean the same thing though.... It's just I can't explain it! Dan :-)

    GB laser barrels

Re: GB feeler laser barrels So Rog, would you reccomend having the LD inside the Aixiz housing top bit, which is press fitted into the Aluminium, or would you have the LD press fitted into the Aluminium housing/heatsink, and then place the top part (with the bottom screw thread and LD lip...

    GB laser barrels

Re: GB feeler laser barrels Yes, you are right, lathes can cut threads, and cut them very well. However, 'tooling up' for these and getting the feeds/speeds spot on won't be easy due to the size of the thread, also it's on the inside of a (relativly) small diameter which doesn't help. If you...

    ** BluRay Diode GB **

Lol!!!! Nice one Zarinwoop, that's been my 'custom text' since I joined. I love the expression on the shark! ;D ;D ;D

    GB laser barrels

Re: GB feeler laser barrels Kenom, the thread on the aixis module isn't a really common one, and I don't know if a tap (thread cutting tool) exists. If it does, then it is likely to be a fine pitch version. I'll try and match it up using a thread gauge. If I produce them, I'll look for any way...

    ** IT'S OFFICIAL **  Laser Power Meter GB --

Re: ** IT'S OFFICIAL **  Laser Power Meter GB -- I REALLY REALLY want one, I just can't afford it. I guess I'll miss the 2nd GB as well... :'( I hope their is a 3rd!!!

    New Logo???

I'm loving the retake on the 'laser warning stickers' Good work!

    TECs sure can be fun!

Lol!!! Has anyone got a phase change cooler? I mean the old Prometeia or Vapochill ones? These compressors were made to cool CPU's to well below -30 deg C They made 4-5GHz overclocks possible!!! I wonder how may mW's we could squeeze out of a diode at -30?!?!? ;D ;D ;D

    ** BluRay Diode GB **

Got mine today! Whoooooo..... ;D It's added to a list of laser jobs/builds!

    GB laser barrels

Re: GB feeler laser barrels I'm sure Kenom can explain this better, but AFAIK there would be no need for an aixiz housing, MAYBE just to canibalise one for the lens, but definatly not to press the diode into. That defeats the whole purpose of having a huge heatsink! So yes, the diode will...
