    Open Source LaserBee SDK!

I think Jerry did not get my example.... Put simply, I ride the "coat tails" of the OEM - they are happy about it as I provide accessories for their product and also bespoke options for their customers. The OEM can get on with their main line manufacturing... The customer has the option of...

    Open Source LaserBee SDK!

Jerry, I make after market parts for 'hobbyist / sport' products - it is my full time job and my business, in a way similar to your business. (without lasers no one would need LPMs and without the main OEM product my business would not exist also). Typically these OEM products cost £300 to...

ARDUINO & DAC for XY projector

That's great! looks like you have lots of headroom for more code / functions:beer: ATB NN:D

ARDUINO & DAC for XY projector

Hi, I think a "value" is a co-ordinate pair? - Canvo will be able to confirm. I was getting 10hz refresh using Yoki girl and that was using a 16Mhz ATMega328 + SPI DAC - so I'm sure the Due is banging out the data a lot faster ;-) ATB MM

ARDUINO & DAC for XY projector

Hi canvo, Looks good, With the 328 I was getting a lot of flicker with Yoki girl - do you know the time it take for one complete scan of the point table? ATB MM

    RGB hand-held laser

 The Single mode set could be an option, but I was aiming for the laser to be 1W+. The single modes are much lower power and with such a big host, it kinda needs Powahr:D Anyway, by the time I get the mitsi wings sorted, there will be a single mode megawatt 3.8mm red diode:D ATB MM

ARDUINO & DAC for XY projector

OR, A logo /frame needs to be output at ~20 to 25hz minimum to be flicker free. My test would be using a scope to see the maximum number of points can be output before the scan frequency drops below ~25hz. From what I have seen () , ILDA frames / logos have between 700 and 1300...

    RGB hand-held laser

Hi Wanaburn, page 8 post #184:D Thank you mdunnicus, "top this one"...not sure, but i'm thinking of a next project. Hi Duke, The wings are not fixed and it is killing me the way the beam looks:yabbmad: I'm about to order some optics to have a play with, but I think I'll also need to order...

The laser sounds interesting, please post a link, don't wait for batteries to post the photos My RGB laser is not big conidering it had a LCD display, joystic and microprocessor. ATB MM

Converting XY points to DAC values

I set up a SPI DAC running at 8mhz clock and it tops out at about 700 points. Any more points and the graphics starts to flicker. The DAC / processor Camvo is using loads the DAC by writing to the DAC registers directly, so only takes a few clock cycles, therfore the limiting factor is the...

ARDUINO & DAC for XY projector

Pincushion distortion, difficult to describe, but the outer corners of a projected square will distort due to the angel / distance..... errr this might be better:D http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distortion_(optics) For small deflection angles the effect is not very visible. For marking / size...

ARDUINO & DAC for XY projector

Super job, glad the PSU has arrived...collourrrrrss  As BB said, would be interestig to see the max points it can output, or the ILDA test frame, or Yuki girl etc. Good work:beer:

Choosing a laser for a laser cutter

I like it when a plan comes together:) I think I'll have to add this one to my list of projects - I've always wanted to build a mini CNC milling engraving machine. ATB MM

Choosing a laser for a laser cutter

Hi Origami, You are correct, I'm assuming the easy steppers use step and direction so these will work with Mach3 I used a break out board which just buffers the LPT port for protection. I don't think you'll ba able to use a USB to LPT converter as the Mach3 driver will be expecting to see a...

Choosing a laser for a laser cutter

Hi Origami, Mach3 is a PC based software program. It uses the LPT port to send the step and direction signals to the stepper motor drivers. It will synchronise the X & Y (and Z and A) axis to position the workpiece under the tool / laser etc. It uses standard GCode file and this can be...
