    First Build Of Powerful Laser

A DMM is the best route for finding the polarity of the contact board but not many people have them. It is however a basic tool I suggest to have even if you only think you are going to build a single laser. Even a cheap one would work fine. Anyway, just get dropbox and use that to host your...

I'm not sure what you did when you desoldered the driver which could make a huge difference since I dont know if you removed everything or not. Besides that, the terminals on the driver board that came with the flashlight are no longer valid and will not work for the laser driver. If you post a...

Sounds like there is still some glue on the lens but it doesn't really matter. If it works it works.

Then you have the lens backwards. The flat side needs to face the diode.

Sorry that picture isn't enough to tell you much. Its possible even if it did chip that it may not effect the output though. To chip the lens though you would probably have been using way too much force XD

91% isopropyl alcohol (aka rubbing alcohol) works great to clean lenses. Lower percentage isn't quite as optimal but it still works. I am unsure if the alcohol will take off the glue but it couldn't hurt to try. If anything you might be able to pick it off using a blade of some kind. Just take...

    First Build Of Powerful Laser

The casing can just be popped apart with two sets of pliers. Just use two pliers and grab a half of the holder in each and pull it directly outwards so it snaps in half. Don't touch the lens with the pliers at all. Once apart you can usually just pick the bits of glue off the lens with your...

    300 mW SKYlaser Issue

All lasers(sometimes with the exception of ultra crap pointers) are driven using constant current drivers which means the diode will only be driven as hard as the driver allows. Meaning the batteries being better than needed would have no effect and is actually advised. Also, I doubt the diode...

They won't work. Yours is a 20mm and mine are 17mm so mine will not fit. I actually don't know of where to get 20mm contact boards off hand since I would make them myself if I needed them which is what I suggest you try. It is really not that difficult to do. All you need to do is let your...

Learn From Mistakes That Can Happen To Anybody...

ESD can be a huge problem with laser diodes so they should always be shipped with shorted leads if they are not already built into a full laser. DTR always either packages his diodes in ESD bags or shorts the leads on his modules so it is never a problem from him.

I guess they are likely the same size. Can you measure yours? My boards are approx 17mm. He already has a DTR module. He is asking about a contact board.

First off you are 100% correct about the leads it has already and do not use them. Secondly, it is possible(and rather easy when skilled with a soldering iron) to do. I just cleaned 5 drivers in about 5 minutes last night because I needed one. I have four left if you want them:

FS: ***Selectable test load up to 3A (assembled or DIY kit)*** IN STOCK!

I would say the second jumper may actually be closer in voltage but being a little over isn't really bad either. Its under that seems to be the worst idea. 9mm diodes typically can actually handle 2.5A easy enough if you have a large enough heatsink. Typically I would suggest 2.1A for long...

What is your internet connection speed?

I know. I have admined for 3 now. This time its my brothers who are going to run the server. I will be doing the backend server maint instead.

FS: ***Selectable test load up to 3A (assembled or DIY kit)*** IN STOCK!

This isn't very true. PL450 diodes for example use significantly higher voltage than a M140 and 9mm diodes use less voltage than an M140. At 2.1A my test load is at the correct 4.9V for a 9mm on the second jumper. For currents 1.8A and over for an M140 I use the third jumper. Haha, I found...
