most of my lasers, 12 Megapixel camera in a motel room updated

Re: most of my lasers, 12 Megapixel camera in a motel room Very cool! Would that even be physically possible? I'm doubting it.

What wavelength's are available in 5mW?

IIRC mantis shrimp have 20 something colour receptors or something like that, ranging from deep UV to IR.

usa shipping cheap 50mW green laser module?

I'm guessing you're trying to replace the module in a pen that died? Your requirements are fairly high, especially the "shipping from the USA" and "<5mw of IR leakage". Really, it wouldn't be too bad to get a module from DX or something and add your own IR filter.

    Wicked Lasers Lunar and Inferno

WL is certainly expensive, but there are definitely some more so (LG, you know). I think that the whole customer service and long arrival times happened because some website did a review of the Arctic and advertised it as "the most powerful handheld laser" and called it a "real-life lightsaber"...

Help focusing my 50mw laser pointer into a burning laser

I'm fairly sure that a magnifying glass on a sunny day focuses a lot more than 5mw. No hard facts or figures to back this up, just personal experience when I was younger (folded up some paper, tried to burn it, didn't realise it punctured all the way through the first few layers and set the...

What wavelength's are available in 5mW?

Don't quote me on this, but I'm fairly sure they're the same diode. Diode wavelengths can vary a little, even if they were manufactured in the same factory in the same line. ±2nm is well within the range of variance for a diode (up to ±10nm or even more I think). Things like temperature...

    Just some quick questions

Sorry but you're not gonna get a 532nm diode laser. Those are all DPSS. If you want a diode green it will be a 520nm, but those are definitely not cheap compared to 532nm. Since you're using it for astronomy, I'm assuming that you're out in the cold a lot? Which is what causes the...

Pretty cool idea can we make it better?

Seems rather gimmicky to me. I think the best thing to do would be like what wannaburn said :D make some sort of laser communicator with a photocell and a sound signal into the laser. Would still be gimmicky tho, because really, it's more convenient to shout than to align the things (and keep...

    adding a blink function

Probably have to build it yourself. I don't know how to do it :P so you'd be better off asking someone else. Good luck!

    Wicked Lasers Lunar and Inferno

Ragging on WL's marketing is fairly useless I think. I mean, once they start claiming that their lasers are 'forged in the heart of a dying star' or originate from the moon, jumping on them for false advertising seems a bit ridiculous. Wonder when WL will decide to put out a 520nm laser...

Help focusing my 50mw laser pointer into a burning laser

OP if it's not burning when focused, it's not gonna burn. Enjoy the colour, it is really one of the more beautiful things I have personally seen.

HOW MANY MW's DO YOU NEED TO SEE THE BEAM

OP got quite some variation there with 5-30 mW But you can see the beam with 1mW. Just open your freezer door and shine the laser through the fog :D

    Combining 405 and 638?

The brightness calculator says that 650nm red is about 167% brighter than 405nm. I'm not sure how reliable it is, but it doesn't sound too far wrong. If I were you I'd use that 500mw 405 and the lower power single mode red one. When you're mixing the colours, getting approximate equivalent...

If Robinson Crusoe had a laserpointer...

Greenie for sure. It'd have better beam specs than the blue and better visibility than the red. EDIT: 10 miles is a pretty long way away. Even if he could aim straight, it might be difficult to signal a ship at that range.

    two questions

Aaaanyway triple posting and forum etiquette aside, I will attempt to answer this question. Graphs or tables would be redundant. Laser divergence is measured normally in the mRad (milliradians) and it would not be too difficult to calculate spot size given the initial beam diameter, divergence...

    Idea: Dual Purpose Fan

I would think that you'd need a protective window over the lens anyway. Would airborne particles abrade the lens if you had a constant fan going near it?

    Question about rare wavelength lasers...?

Well umm... Colours regarded as rare are the yellows and the oranges, and the greeny-blues. They're not rare as such, most gas lasers are quite capable of producing these colours, but for solid-state lasers they are pretty hard to come by. They're expensive because of the process used to...

High tier 5mW Lasers: are they worth it?

A 50mw green is very bright. I speak from personal experience. And the beam is very visible in dim conditions. To be honest, I wouldn't be using a 50mw green near mirrors, either. The chances of accidental reflection is pretty high. Anyway, like Zeebit has said, you'll outgrow your 5mw pretty...

    Laser Harp laser

Umm I might be wrong, but don't laser harps normally have fog in them?

what do I need to make an interactive laser

You want to make a volumetric display. That'll cost a ton. And you won't be able to stick your hands in it either. Some medical centres have them. Basically they're mirrors that spin very fast and have a projector that projects onto it. Some Japanese researchers made a volumetric display with...
