    Looking for advice

Build your own. Not illegal to own a billion watt ( if you could fit it in a handheld) handheld in the usa. It is however illegal to use them irresponsibly. It is also illegal to import them with a sticker not showing their true class. One of the things I like about the more shady china and...

Why are all the good posts so old?

I like really fat straight beams in the 1000mw-2000mw range and spend way to much money on laser stuff... ;);). Old projection screen tv's have lens that help to make some huge beams. I also like 100% duty cycle stuff that plugs into the wall the best.... ;);) We have laws here on power and...

I've started using all the modules and extra diodes I bought, to make a laser show box. I have plenty of little dc motors around. Already figured out how to make some huge freaking beams when I was playing with Nichia 08's.

    Why are 405nm.....

Not that I won't buy them, just why are they so much? A nubm08 brand new cost me $20 bucks. They are the wrong color for what I want though. I have my own housings for my diodes, bought a lot of 200 for $110 bucks from my awesome supplier. I'm not sure everyone gets the deals I get though...

    Why are 405nm.....

But how long will it last overdriven that hard without a Tec system? I'm housing them in smaller modules for this project and only using 33mm fans for active cooling. More than enough for the greens and red's I have in the housing box. I haven't overdriven any of those, they have more than...

    Why are 405nm.....

I'm not really much of a burner. Yeah it's cool for like 10 seconds, for me. I like fat collimated beams that go on forever, the best. I'll have to check out 488nm. I tend to just buy a bunch of whatever I like that I see. Slowly building a very large and mostly un needed laser pen collection...

Why are all the good posts so old?

Oh I read up in here about a year before ever joining, I seen a lot of drama and can only imagine what got deleted. I've noticed some very high horse's with people that don't really have a clue what they are doing, on their backs. I stay out of that fishing hole. I may have to take a peek in...

What do you use you laser for?

I'm an addict for shiny thing. Motors, my pet pig, and laser beams ftw!! I've spent a lot of money on laser stuff in the year I've been messing with lasers. Few grand in just the last 2 months!!! You know when you are addicted to lasers, you'll never afford to be a drug addict, lol.

So where are you all from?

won't you come and wash away the rain, black hole sun, won't ya come, won't ya come, black hole sun............ Hi there. I'm a new guy here too. Sadly I'm north of the dixie line in little Texas. I like lasers, my pet pig, and short walks to the fridge. While those blue pens are cool ( I have...

I said what in the tarnation. A double beam laser, wahhhhohhh shaggy.

It's a $10 pen, I wasn't even expecting the output it has. Very pleased it is not >1mw like the sticker says. lol. I can actually get it to burn pretty nice when I use a magnifying glass to focus the beam even tighter. I'm actually watching it right now and the beam is steady ( with the tiny 1/3...

I've now added a 515nm-520nm fat beam to my collection. SO SWEET!

I just earned that privi a few minutes ago. I'll get some up tomorrow night. It's the crazest pen I ever seen. Is there a way to up load a video? I could show the strange morph it does too.

What do you use you laser for?

I engrave with my most expensive lasers. Whole reason I found this place. Needed to find a part to build my own high end laser. While I didn't want to spend $500 on one single laser module, so I spent $2400 reengineering my machine. lol. I have 12 modules of varying wave size, it is now TEC...

    Beam visibility at night time

I love the greens too. 532nm is really bright too, my fav is 510-515nm though. Cyan lasers are the bee's knee's too. So many bright colors. 532nm, really bright green. I have a few of them. One is 50mw and it will leave a spot on a cloud 10 miles or more up. I have a few at 100mw-150mw, even...

I said what in the tarnation. A double beam laser, wahhhhohhh shaggy.

So I recently purchased a laser from a seedy dealer on eBay, the famous Chinese lasers!!! Now me personally am always glad when they say " >1mw " and I get a pen at 250mw or so. I've noticed it takes a minimum of 100mw of any color really, some need a few more mw, but an average, to get a burn...

    $20 scope whaoooo!!!

    $20 scope whaoooo!!!

Back when a cars manual showed you how to adjust the valves and tighten the timing chain. Now days they tell you not to drink the fluid in the radiator or battery. I miss the days when people used their grey fat.

    Why are 405nm.....

Why are 405nm diodes 100mw and above so freaking expensive? I can find 20mw-50mw all day long for around a dollar, or two. That's new and use. Just scored 20 pcs of 405nm at 20mw for 8 bucks. I spend a lot of money with a certain surplus laser store, and they return the favor by sometimes giving...

I am now the proud owner of a 200mw-250mw( 250mw driver, cranked all the way up, so maybe a little more or less, don't have an lpm yet) 635nm. It's like a baby little tiny burner.
