    DIY Homemade laser diode driver

10A as in amps, the Simpson only has 500mA, 100mA 10ma and 100 microamps. Then the radioshack seems to only have 50µ amps (.00005 amps) and 250 mA. Edit: Using the radioshack in 250mA DCA I connected the red and black lead to the + and - of where the laser would go (respectively) and I set the...

    DIY Homemade laser diode driver

I made this driver using a 3.9 ohm resistor to limit the driver to 320-321 mA. I also used a 100 ohm single turn potentiometer. The laser I have for this driver is a LPC-815 and from the information nikokapo posted about diodes I want to run this laser at 200mA for now. I have a radioshack meter...

    Digi-Key vs Mouser

I'm wondering how the shipping prices are for those two sites. I've ordered from Newark.com and got funky shipping numbers. At the time of the purchase the shipping was stated for once price, while my invoice said another price and lastly my card was charged a third price. Now that p*ssed me off...

WTB: 100 ohm potentiometer and 2 resistors.

I can check those out, also I'll dig around for some broken electronics.

WTB: 100 ohm potentiometer and 2 resistors.

They must be odd balls, I can't find them at radio shack.

WTB: 100 ohm potentiometer and 2 resistors.

Just curious to see if anyone has a 100 ohm pot and a 4 ohm resistor for the DDL driver. Then a 1 ohm 1 watt resistor to make a driver test load.

    DIY Burning Laser

When I said kipkay inspired, I just meant it gave me the idea. For the heatsink, what are some good ones that will work with the module mentioned before, or an Aixiz module?

how do i rip this sucker apart?!?!

He thinks it made it more powerful, but he has no way of knowing except what it looks like to the naked eye.

how do i rip this sucker apart?!?!

My friend had one that he turned the pot trying to make it brighter, that he just cut open, and when he got to the brass colored section, it broke real easy.

    DIY Burning Laser

Re: DIY Buring Laser I'll keep those goggles in mind, cause like I said right now, I'm just gathering materials and knowlegde. Edit: Now that I can post links, I'll redo what I typed before. This is the driver I will be using http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1185701612 and...

    DIY Burning Laser

Re: DIY Buring Laser I knew not to look into the laser, I have those dinky keychain laser, which have a warning about looking into the laser, so I heeded the warning from them for the cd burner and what exactly is a heatsink, I know its something to remove the heat, but what is it made of?

    DIY Burning Laser

Re: DIY Buring Laser Well with the naked eye, NOT looking directly at laser, I tilt it to the side to aim away from my eye, I see just a red glare, and it gets real hot.

    DIY Burning Laser

Re: DIY Buring Laser I tried the laser on batteries before I found this site, but I don't need to worry about that one too much, it was only a cd burner, but I'm gonna look at the dead/damaged cd burner with a FLIR camera and see whats it doing.

    DIY Burning Laser

Re: DIY Buring Laser The links didn't work cause I can't post links yet, so you have to add w w w . and change the (dot) to a . and I think I already killed a diode by hooking it straight to two AAA batteries, but it was only a cd burner, thats why I'm going to make the driver, to hopefully...
