Radiant X4: A LPM for the masses at Illumination Supply!

Quick update: All the LPM's have gone through initial hardware calibration. There are only a couple of steps left, firmware calibration and final inspection. The software is changing slightly for the new LPM's I'm working on the final build right now. The LPM's are the only thing on my plate...

Would anyone be interested in making a wiki with me?

I used to run laserswiki.com, but I couldn't keep up with the administrative duties that came with running a wiki. I copied all the data, every driver (even legacy drivers) was fully documented, and about 50% of the diodes (legacy ones proved to be difficult to find data for) I can make a bot...

What to do with a green laser module

The proper effective cheap safety glasses

Re: The most reliable cheap safety glasses They can't be trusted because of manufacturing variance. From personal experience I've had goggles that were completely useless, despite being nearly identical visually. This thread is a good rule of thumb reference. People who are not going to...

temperature of 9mm diode after 5 min

Need more information. Temperature is dependent on thermal resistance and power dissipation, a thermal engineer would tell you the same thing. To answer this we would need to know A) The heatsink that is being used with the diode B) The power dissipation of the diode (can be found by...

    What a let down :/

Don't have to open it up all the way, just to the maximum device operating current (or the minimum the power supply will reliably go down to). If that doesn't work it sounds like a faulty PSU.

    What a let down :/

Yeah, if you're able to supply the driver with constant voltage it should be fine.

    What a let down :/

If you're running it in CC mode the high current PSU wont be happy at lower currents. The shunt resistance is lower in high current PSU's and when operating it at low currents the shunt voltage is too low. You should be fine in CV mode for the high current PSU.

Need advice on multi diode setup :)

If you're a filmmaker then you'll get far better effects with CG than with an actual laser, it's easy to do even for amateurs and it will look far closer to the "real" thing. There really is no reason to use an actual laser here.

Need advice on multi diode setup :)

Why not used a focused blue LED? Safer, cheaper, easier. You wont get the same effect, but it's a costume, you don't actually need it to be a weapon like the real thing.

    Canadian money! Woo!

Even the old ones were amazing in terms of bank note security. Speaking of counterfeit technology I read an interesting article recently about why the US bank notes have not been kept up to date with other modern bank notes. The Colour of Money (R) | 99% Invisible

How dangerous is the BEAM of blue laser?

Looking at the beam outside (from behind the aperture) wont cause eye damage. The danger with these lasers are when the beam hits you in the eye, either directly or being reflected from a surface. Edit: I should clarify that by reflections I also mean diffuse reflections, even those can be...

    Looking for a boost IC

I like the TPS61200 because it has an optional under voltage cutoff pin. Can do 500mA without a problem Has a (GND = off) enable. Has load disconnect. Minimal external components (5-8 depending on your configuration) http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tps61201.pdf The only reason you may not...

    ISIS the terror machine

There's some pretty violent and/or weird verses in the bible as well. People see what they want to see. When some people read the bible they see only the stories of the Good Samaritan, Jesus feeding 1000 people, ect. Others see the parts about sins, hell, and judgement day. In my opinion the...
