my driver isnt giving the right current?

that's what I thought, so some 3.7 volt batteries then? or perhaps 5 AAA? I wouldn't mind suggestions :)

    Max volts into red diode?

I am building my first project (just saying incase you haven't seen my other threads) and I got problems using 3AAA batteries and got too low of mA to the load, so I used a 9 volt, but volts across load is like 3.7, is this too high? or will it only shorten the life of my diode? I have 5 diodes...

my driver isnt giving the right current?

bumping, so I don't want to de-solder, if I took out one of the cells in the 9 volt, it would bring it to like 7.5, which should be good I think, but I want someone to agree and say its a good idea, because it probably isnt

    Reallly need help here.

this seems like something i'd get mad over, but with the recent problems with setting up my driver, I don't blame you, but listen to what they say, it'll last a lot longer with a driver, making a diode die is a sad and abusive thing to do

my driver isnt giving the right current?

So is 3.7 THROUGH the diode okay?
  6. S

my driver isnt giving the right current?

I'll give that another try, but I don't want to un solder the ttl positive input if I don't have to

my driver isnt giving the right current?

If I didn't use it the output wasn't really showing up
  8. S

my driver isnt giving the right current?

okay, I used a 9 volt, I got 340 mA, but then read that the operating voltage is 205, and the max is 340, so..... idk, also the volts across the load is 3.7, again its like the max or above, will it be okay? Also, heat, the driver heats up with about 15 seconds of use

do these parts make a laser?

Sounds fair, I'll try that in the morning, what batteries do you use? Or should I use? Perhaps a 9volt? (Lol probably would break something)

do these parts make a laser?

3 fresh AAA give about 4.8v, are you sure the batteries could be the problem?
  11. S

do these parts make a laser?

PROBLEM! no matter what I do the driver only gets 180ish mA through the test load, do need more than 3 AAA batteries since i'm connected to the TTL positive too? or is the driver busted? (it wouldn't surprise me if it was) I have a spare driver, should I set it up?
  12. S

my driver isnt giving the right current?

how many volts can the blitzbuck take in?
  13. S

my driver isnt giving the right current?

I have a second driver, I'll hook that one up and see what I get. I don't think it could be the switch I have on the wire causing such a loss of current, so I'll swap for the spare and give it a go. If worst comes to worst, I'll make a DDL driver or order something you reccommend

my driver isnt giving the right current?

4 rectifier diodes then the 1ohm 10w resistor, being fed by about 4.7 or 4.8 volts from 3 AAA batteries
  15. S

my driver isnt giving the right current?

I've turned the pot while it was on, I keep turning to the right and the highest it goes is 180ish, then if I keep turning nothing happens

my driver isnt giving the right current?

so my driver (Amazon.com: AixiZ 2 pack red and IR laser diode driver 80-500mA w/TTL: Everything Else) is hooked up to the test load and it only shows 180ish mA, I need 340. is this driver broken? I did run power through it for a bit without a load, and I turned the pot probably too high, but I...

"Missing" current on my DIY driver (LM317)

i'm having the same issue with this driver (Amazon.com: AixiZ 2 pack red and IR laser diode driver 80-500mA w/TTL: Everything Else), I ran power through it without a load, so think I may have cooked it, but I don't know
  18. S

do these parts make a laser?

It won't short for me because it doesn't fit in the housing, I'll only be using the front piece and wrapping the open stuff with electrical tape
  19. S

do these parts make a laser?

That's what I thought, thank you very much. Expect to see a thread documenting my first build in the coming week or so.

do these parts make a laser?

Did you connect both ttl, or just the positive to the positive lead?
