    Please don't do this.......

But thats hella more powerful than 1W, let alone eye safe if a toddler is off in the distance when the laser fires Probably better to construct a non-toxic volatile insecticide that binds to insects and explodes becomes toxic when contacted by a lower-powered laser of a certain wavelength, that...

Help - My First Build - Laser Cigarette Lighter

A heating coil would be visible, with an IR laser it would look exactly like the 5mW laser was the one doing the lighting

Help - My First Build - Laser Cigarette Lighter

1000 IQ move: Use an ir laser to light the sig (and have a properly rated OD filter for ir) and after some smoke has accumulated pass a 5mW laser beam of your choosing through it. This could be done using a simple timing circuit and a PBS cube That way you get the benefit of a laser-lit...

    Where is Alaskan ??

The more the merrier, I'm happy that veteran members such as yourself continue to stick around and chime in on threads every now and then ;)

Help - My First Build - Laser Cigarette Lighter

Its true that innovation may have an element of risk involved, but in this case it can be widely agreed that there is nothing innovative about using a laser to light a cig and there are better/cheaper ways of achieving the same effect Your (FireMyLaser's) argument is not applicable to this thread

    Please don't do this.......

Lol I speak from experience here; killing an airborne insect with a 1W laser is next to impossible... they move too fast for any meaningful heat buildup

    450nm 1.6W Handheld Build - PLTB450B

You forgot to include batteries, charger, lens, diode housing, and shipping in your cost calculations! Jk nicely done

Help - My First Build - Laser Cigarette Lighter

Make sure to include £35 in your budget for buying a decent pair of laser safety goggles if you haven't done so already

Help - My First Build - Laser Cigarette Lighter

If you're going to be terminating the beam after a few cm you might as well use an arc lighter, but any powerful blue diode with a beam stop made of matte black metal should do what you want

    Sanwu Lasers - Offical thread

Yeah the sharp 485nm is pretty much the only feasible 465nm<x<505nm laser on the market right now Lol funny thing is sharp also makes the most affordable 505nm laser diode on the market too... all round a very good company for rarer wavelengths

Brand new Sanwu Pocket 520nm has strange 'ring' leaking around beam.

Before you ship it back, see if cleaning anything helps. Again, I don't know enough about the pointer to rule out the possibility of some sort of inside reflections causing the ring (maybe the diode is mounted too deep?) If you can fix it yourself, that would be ideal as I know sending a laser...

Looking for the Best 10180 LiIon

I recently built a keychain laser that is supposed to give off 700mW of red, but the usual vape stores don't carry such a small battery so I was forced to use an eBay battery that only allows for 500mW... do any of you folks know where I can get myself some decent 10180 cells with >=100 mAh...

Leadlight (pen) (< 1W) 405nm Violet Laser for Sale

Without having an LPM reading it will be difficult to sell, try posting some beam profiles (shots of expanded laser beam) and see if you can compare its burning capability to one of your other 1W+ lasers. 405nm at 1W should easily overpower any blue or green watt-for-watt PS: You technically...

    The Nootropics Thread

The only drug I need is an occipital lobe stimulant known as looking at a nice laser beam

Step down circuit for laser control, help me to improve it.

If its a specific challenge the op has given themselves: to build a driver using an STM32, then that's a different story

Step down circuit for laser control, help me to improve it.

I don't know a thing about ICs, but I know they sure are cheaper than microprocessors... at least from a cost perspective using an STM32 doesn't really make sense

My first 1w green laser... Which diode to use?

idk about boosts, what form factor are you looking for? More likely than not, you can find 2 smaller LiIons than the one you already have and put them in series so you can use a buck

Brand new Sanwu Pocket 520nm has strange 'ring' leaking around beam.

The specific ring shape is probably due to parts of the diode's diverging beam reflecting off of the inner sides of the laser module

Can't see your pics, but try cleaning the diode window

    Lasers make you smarter.

lol they're strictly macroscopic chemical constructs, but it'd be interesting to see if flesh-penetrating lasers could replace normal electrodes in some brain treatments
