I use a cheap flip phone by choice. I also have a back up phone thats the exact same.

Once every 2 months or so I wake up to see my battery depleted which happens on both at different times.
I even have bought new batteries which are legit and the same brand that the phones came with and the same thing.

What would cause it to happen? I'm talking 90 to 99% depletion..
I delete just about all of my messages and maby keep 2 or 3 tops and don't fill it with notes or appointments or alarms. Am I losing my mind that I think it happens on nights that it overcast or raining.
Can that weather cause it?

The battery drains over night from a full charge with no use at all once in a while.
Its not loaded with info and just has has phone number contacts and some pics in the gallery.

Your battery is how old? If years, then you can order a replacement battery on ebay for cheap, that's the 1st and easiest thing to rule out and likely your issue.

I have ordered at least 7 or 8 new ones over the last 1 to 3 years. They are the exact same brand that came with the phone and legit as far as I can tell.
If I ever traveled my thoughts are that I would bring a few extra batterys with me and the the power supply that gives you maby a 80% charge.

All in all the batterys hold up decent but its those wierd once in a blue moon things where one would just about fully deplete over night.
Even on the new ones..

No weird conspiracy theorys but it seems to happen on a rainy and lighting nights and I do live in a building thats rents out the roof for massive antennas for the Police, Fire and Comcast.
Not all the time under these conditions does if it happen but when it does it seems the weather is like I mentioned?

Its not just one or two batterys. They all seem to deplete over night on rare occasion. Thats what baffles me. The originals and the new ones I bought.
Well I threw out the original battery thinking it was bad till I found out that wasn't the case.
I even marked them as original or first order I bought, then the second order I bought etc... to keep tabs.

Like I mentioned other than my contacts and gallery pics these 2 phones aren't loaded with notes, timers.. I just might keep a couple messages and thats it..
Its really weird when it happens.

Oh yes iv'e seen some flat cell phone battery swell big time..

The contacts or gallery pics don't get deleted. That was a worry for me, well at least the gallery pics.
Maby these cheaper phones have a tiny tiny back up gizmo to save memory?? This time when it happened the phone would turn on for a 1/2 second and shut off.

I fully charged the phone with same battery and its still holding charge.

When it happened way before this time I fully charged it but it would not turn on. I took the battery out and the sim card and put them back in and the phone worked and kept my info.. I'm still using this same battery also.

Encap, I found 3 batterys that I put away and been sitting for a long time and they are at 4.02ish V.

I guess I should go to my Metro store and ask to which he might say i'm losing my mind and would try to sell me a new phone.
Sorry for using the ''battery" word over and over..

I have maby 4 touch screen phones that iv'e been given and have new Motorola Motto g but I really don't like using them when iv'e used my friends. I tend to touch the wrong things on the screen..

Motorola Motto g is a nice phone,

Take one of the batteries you know discharges overnight, fully charge it, and take it out of the phone overnight and see if is discharging overnight while not in the phone. Easy way for you to find out if the problem is the phone or the battery. Water is bad for phone batteries. It makes them swell up and fail but that is not from ordinary environment humidity or lightning. I mean water like I left my phone in my pants pocket and put the pants in the washing machine, or went swimming with the phone, or dropped it in the toilet serious wet.
What a HUGE coincidence.
Yesterday I had a glass of water on my coffee table plus my phones, calculater, timer, etc..basicly loaded with gizmos.

Mind you this was 2 or 3 days after 1 of my phones depleted over night so no relation.

I was reaching for something and knocked over the glass of water. Just about 75% of the table got wet and I sprang into action of grabbing everything off it.
Mostly everything got wet. I dried every gizmo the best I could and thought I was good.
So I wake up this morning and my back up is dead. No screen at all.

Everytime I tried to turn it on it shutdown. It flashed the words "battery to hot" and some other words but the words came on and off so fast I couldn't read the entire mesaage. This is a message that iv'e never seen before.

I thought I had dried that phone well and even used computer duster on it.
When I opened up the back the I saw tiny tiny traces of water and moister. I knew water is really bad for lithium cells but wow it doesn't take much.
The battery wasn't swelled and had a full charge.. I took out the sim card and again did my best to dry the insides. Phone works fine now.
Who knows what might of happened if the phones "defensives" didn't shut it down??
