Cheap Diy easy Galvos based on the Tangent law of Magnetisim?

yeah, that idea might not work. galvo design might be better left to the pros

    uv black light bubbles???

what about tonic water? aparrently it glows from the quinine File:Tonic water uv.jpg - Wikibooks, collection of open-content textbooks although it looks like a lot of blacklight has been used

    power source question

hmm ithink just any old batterys will do. you woulden't need a driver board. pm me if ya have any more questions

Cheap Diy easy Galvos based on the Tangent law of Magnetisim?

the 24khz is Amplitude modulated. the loudness of the signal controls the galvo. also a half wave rectifier chops off the negative. a Fullwave reverses the polarity with a diode bridge when it is negative.

umm i think that rectifier thing deals with the "cant output dc" thing. this only outputs a constant 24khz tone with changing volume. pure sine. what kind of cd/soundcard can't output a pure sine through a rectifier and an amp?

Cheap Diy easy Galvos based on the Tangent law of Magnetisim?

i was going for graphics here. i see no reason why full y scanning/animation should be completely out of reach for most of us. and it should'nt take too long to reset as it is being returned by a electromagnet or NIB magnet. also, it CAN sweep that much but it doesn't have to. that depends on...

Contact Lenses Protect the Eye from lasers??

no probs. if i can help promote not being stupid, that's good. that is very sad for the guy who has those burns. the pics don't show up here either.

Contact Lenses Protect the Eye from lasers??

yeah i like the multiple choice. remember carol never wore her safety goggles? we could do a solid black square that said "this is what you see for the rest of you'e life after as few as one laser accident" an a jail for airplanes, etc. and then a picture of a laser and a gun and text between...

Contact Lenses Protect the Eye from lasers??

is there like a big safety poster that we could make people look at before they register or something? theese things are f-cking dangerous and quite a few people in the world seem to think that they aren't. people on this forum for the most part seem to be safe. but i've met some people who...

Cheap Diy easy Galvos based on the Tangent law of Magnetisim?

i'm not trying to build closed loop. this is just another closed loop. and the reason is that 120$ is not cheap, especially when you add in control electronics and software. i am thinking to use a CD player instead of a dac(yes i know about how it might not like dc, my pager motor post describes...

Cheap Diy easy Galvos based on the Tangent law of Magnetisim?

The tangent law of magnetism states (i think, not sure of the science) that the angle of the compass in two perpendicular fields is proportional to the relative strengths of those fields. what i i'm suggesting is building essentially one of these:A model galvanometer | Practical Physics using an...

    pager motor as galvo?

i was thinking to have a CONSTANT 20,000hz tone and modulate the VOLUME of that. the tone has no dc in it and the information is carried by the loudness. like AM radio. then you fullwave rectify and smooth(we are looking for loudness, not the actual wverform) and then amplify the rectified and...

where to buy laser beam visualizer spray?

what about a small computer fan blowing smoke from an ultrasonic humidifier. nice diy project and you can just use water for fluid

    pager motor as galvo?

well the amplitude modulation part is ok. and the encoder wheel. i think i'll go with a diy version of an hdd voice coil, as it would be cheaper then buying a torx set. could you take the output of a soundcard DAC driver and feed it through this: http://software.muzychenko.net/eng/vac.html into...
