    Just a side note If anyone is actually concerned about IR this guy reviewed and tested the Kaidomain one Here - http://ledmuseum.candlepower.us/eleventh/cupreous.htm It turns out it does have a IR filter and a pretty good one, not perfect but you can see for yourself on the review.

    Yeah I clamped it very lightly just to hold it steady enough to cut towards the pliars instead of cutting towards my thumb.

    Well i don't really know, I read somewhere that senkat's open can ones do ~250mw with plastic lens and ~300mw with glass but mines a 20x so i haven't seen what it's supposed to do.

    This is how I opened up mine. Not popping but cutting. Holding the lens housing lightly with locking pliers(just to have something to cut towards other than my thumb). Use a straight edge razor to cut the plastic horizontally as shallow as possible in the direction of the pliers. Turn and...

    That's pretty cool :D. I'm attempting to fit this in a 15mmx150mm flashlight tube. Everything needs to fit on either side of a little PCB board.

    Does anyone know if it would be safe to cut the aluminum tab that sticks off the back of the Lm317T? I would like to know for space saving purposes. :D Like this:
