Yes,  it will ruin the binoculars instantaneously, don't do it!   The glass lenses on binoculars are neither flexible nor self healing, so when the laser impacts the glass, it will shatter!  I repeat, SHATTER!  Or at the very least, scratch, it. Now, on the other hand,  laser BEAMS are ok...

Sure, but we're talking apples and oranges. The ouput of this particular technology is quite similar to sun light and at much greater efficiency, producing much less heat. The implications seem very fruitful. TS
